Today’s Eligella Cup would have been really tough. Two groups consisting of different content creators, YouTubers, esports players and soccer professionals would have started. It would have been a duo tournament, which is also a rarity. Willy and EarlyGame partner NikLugi won the last of this kind . However, it failed because of the simple things.
Alphonso Davies plays FIFA 22 on PS4. That’s right, nobody in the group expected that. Organizer EliasN97 was speechless. Of course, everyone else plays on PS5 and crossplay is not possible in FIFA 22. Almost nobody had the PS4 version. Then Sidney’s internet problems came along and it was kind of buggy.
Willy had already started against Davies, so at least we got to see one game. But it would have just taken too long for everyone to have the PS4 version. Insanity. In fact, it failed due to crossplay. We were so looking forward to Davies’ performance… maybe next week?
There has been a long discussion back and forth in the Discord. Cancel? Move? Continue playing without Davies? For Eligella it was clear pretty quickly: all or nothing! Elias assumes he will postpone the tournament. Possibly for next week. Will Davies be there? Good question, that too is still up in the air.
