New skill moves
FIFA 21 VOLTA mode is all about fast, uncomplicated gameplay. This year, players will have additional skill moves . By pressing L3 and the left stick you can launch the ball into the air and start a volley.
Players with 1-3 stars on their skill moves can perform simple tricks, while 4-5 stars can perform more complex special moves including tight flicks, ball roll flicks and more.
5-Star Skillers will even be able to incorporate their special moves into shots or passes by pressing L2 + Square/Circle + X on PlayStation or LT+ X/B + A on Xbox.
The new agile dribbling system will also be available in VOLTA, and the mode will also feature a new Nutmeg control that makes it easier to dribble out opponents. To do this, hold L1+R1 or LB+RB and move the right stick in the direction you want the ball to go.
Reworked shots and defense
The shot system has been reworked to better suit the small space in FIFA 21 VOLTA mode. Shots can now be performed with increased power and accuracy. Among other things, powerful shots from a long distance should be possible. In games without a goalkeeper, shots have to be executed even more precisely in order to land in the net.
At the same time, EA Sports has also been working on the defense. Human and AI players can block shots even better. FIFA 21 ‘s new Attacking Intelligence feature is also coming to VOLTA. This should allow AI players to act smarter and run better into free spaces.
VOLTA Squads: New online modes
The VOLTA Squads are also new in FIFA 21. They can be used to play quick drop-in games online with a group of up to three friends or alone . With your VOLTA Avatar you join an online lobby and play with a team of human players against another team.
The team captain chooses jerseys, team name and venue, as well as possible AI players for the open positions. All other players can determine their position themselves, with the exception of the goalkeeper.
The division
Similar to FUT, FIFA 21 VOLTA will also have multiple Divisions that you can advance into. As you advance in Divisions and Ranks, you’ll unlock exclusive rewards including VOLTA Coins and special gear for VOLTA Squads mode.
There are five ranks within each division, with rank 1 being the highest. Special events can be completed every week in which you unlock further time-exclusive rewards .
Featured Battles
Within the weekly events there will be so-called Featured Battles . In it, you compete against AI-controlled teams to earn Battle Points . This can also unlock exclusive rewards in the form of coins or customization items. Each event features up to two Featured Matches with additional unique rewards.
In these games you compete against special teams of current superstars like Kylian Mbappé , Icons or special talents . If you win, you can recruit players from the team. In addition, official jerseys for top teams such as FC Liverpool or Real Madrid can only be unlocked in the Featured Battles, which should provide an additional incentive for fans.
The Debut-Tutorial mit Kaka
Football legend Kaka introduces you to the world of VOLTA in the extensive The Debut tutorial , both on and off the pitch. During the 2-3 hour introductory session, you’ll unlock new locations, improve your avatar’s stats, learn strategies, and earn unique rewards.
The story revolves around your team already exploring the world and meeting some of the legends of the sport along the way. The Streets & Icons tournament in Dubai is the ultimate goal that you and your team are working towards. There are five new locations in the game: Sao Paolo, Paris, Sydney, Dubai and Milan.
You improve your avatar by completing matches, as well as special training tasks that revolve around special moves, defensive work, goal scoring and much more.
New equipment
FIFA 21 VOLTA is regularly updated with new equipment that connects the world of football with the world of fashion. This includes equipment from well-known street football manufacturers, professional football clubs and fashion lines designed by stars.
Avatar progress
The progression system of your own VOLTA avatar has also been revised in order to be able to improve the most important values more quickly. After each game, your player will receive a rating based on their performance. The higher the rating, the faster your avatar advances.
Depending on the position of your player (i.e. defender, midfielder or forward), the attributes increase at different rates.
