Here you can find out everything about the new virtual soccer game from EA Sports: What changes to the gameplay? What new features are there? Who graces the cover?
Like every year in the summer we wait for it: Infos about the new FIFA! Meanwhile there are first news about FIFA 22 – here we will provide you in the months before the release with all interesting information about the new soccer game from EA Sports. Of course always up to date.
Release
FIFA 2021 will be released a bit earlier than the year before – but still later than usual. FIFA 22 goes on sale on October 1. Before Corona, the soccer game was always available for purchase on the last Friday of September. Last year the worldwide release of FIFA 21 was on October 9th.
Cover
Cover star in FIFA 22 will be Kylian Mbappé for the second time in a row. At just 22 years old, the Paris Saint-Germain star is already one of the best players in the world. Before Mbappé became 2020 cover star, Real Madrid’s Eden Hazard and Liverpool FC’s Virgil van Dijk had graced the cover in FIFA 20.
Platforms
FIFA 22 will be released for the next gen consoles PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Google Stadia as well as PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC. FIFA 21 has already been released as a separate version for PS5, Xbox Series X and Google Stadia. The players could look forward to an improved gaming experience: faster loading times, faster rendering, improved animation technologies and a more intensive design of the players away from the action.
New features
-
Return of the own club in the career mode
Many FIFA players will be happy about this: In FIFA 22 you will have the possibility to create your own club in the career mode for the first time in 15 years (FIFA 07). “Live your soccer dreams in FIFA 22’s career mode. Create a club and transform your players from relegation candidates into world stars,” says the official FIFA 22 website.
-
New Co-Op Matchmaking
In FUT friendlies, you will be able to play against random opponents with friends or training partners in Co-Op Public Matchmaking. The teams will be created randomly by FIFA 22. That means: You can not only compete with players from all over the world in 2on2 mode, but also test new players, who – if they convince you – might find their way into your Ultimate Team. Since both teams will be using the same FUT cards, you will have a level playing field.
-
New cards in FIFA Ultimate Team
Different FIFA Ultimate Team cards are now a dime a dozen. FIFA 22 adds another card type: Heroes. Heroes are stars from the past that are no longer active. One of the first announced Heroes is ex-national player Mario Gomez, who used to score for FC Bayern Munich and AC Florenz, among others.
-
Change of Weekend League and Division Rivals
This will also be of burning interest to FUT gamers: EA will change the popular FUT game modes Weekend League and Division Rivals. We’ll summarize what exactly we can expect here:
Weekend League (Champions)
- Consists of Champions Playoffs and Finals in FIFA 22
- 20 instead of 30 games during the weekend
- Champions Playoffs take place during the week (5 games)
- Finals are played during the weekend (20 matches)
- Rewards are available even without qualification for the finals
Division Rivals
- Changed league system
- In addition to the divisions 1 to 10 there is an elite league where the best players in the world compete against each other
- Checkpoints can prevent the fall into a lower division
Below the official FIFA 22 Ultimate Team trailer explains in detail how the popular FUT game modes will change in the new – Season .
Gameplay
-
HyperMotion
EA Sports introduced “HyperMotion” as probably the biggest gameplay innovation in FIFA 22. This is a new technology exclusive to the next gen versions on PS5, Xbox Series X and Google Stadia that is supposed to create “a completely new gameplay experience in every match and mode” and thus more realism overall. This is supposed to work by transferring movements captured in real soccer situations into the game. The official Reveal Trailer, which you can find below, shows how this works.
