The vast majority of FUT 21 players can only dream of premium icons like Pele or Ronaldo. These cards cost more than 7 million coins, which is almost impossible to earn. Especially if you have a life besides FIFA! However, there are some killer players you can get for less than 300,000 coins.
In FUT 21, you can get really good players with better stats than you think even for little coins. Don’t believe me? Wait and see, because we’re about to look at the real value of these icons you can get for a handful (okay, more like several hands) of coins. What do they have to offer and are they really worth the money?
Icon cards under 200K
Every icon player has 3 cards: base, middle, and prime. The base icons have essentially the worst stats of the three. Of course, the Prime icons are the best with the best stats and they are also the most expensive.
The basic or so-called “baby” symbols are usually 85 and 86 rated players who are simply not worth it. A regular 85 rated card costs no more than 50K, so you should find both a cheaper and better solution for your team.
Fortunately, there are some mid-range icons that you can buy for less than 200,000 coins. Honestly, they’re still not worth it…. Unless, of course, you desperately need an icon to increase the chemistry in your hybrid team.
Let’s say you’re on a tight budget and need an icon card as soon as possible to make everything work. Given the nature of a hybrid team, that player would likely be a CB or midfielder. Our suggestions for CB icons under 200K are Nesta (90) and Baresi (88). Both players are relatively fast and can defend well. If you need a midfielder, it mostly depends on the position.
For the CDM position, our top pick is midfield icon Guardiola (87), the CM position definitely goes to Scholes (89), while the CAM position has many great players. But the best one we could find is Prime Nakata (88). If for some reason you need a ST player, the best one for the job is Marco van Basten (91).
Icon cards in the 200K to 300K range.
If you bought any of the previously mentioned icons, you’ll probably want to upgrade them as soon as possible. Once the Weekend League and Division Rivals rewards arrive, you’ll be rewarded with an additional 100K. Let’s take a look at what options you have to upgrade these cards.
Of course, the easiest way to upgrade would be to simply buy their Prime versions. Fortunately, our CB’s Nesta and Baresi both have Prime cards for under 300K and it’s probably the best solution to just upgrade them. For the midfield, we suggest a different solution.
Instead of upgrading cards, there are better players that can be easily bought. Unfortunately, Guardiola is the only CDM icon player in this price range and you’ll need a lot more coins to upgrade him. On the other hand, there are some better solutions in the CM and CAM positions. We recommend Andrea Pirlo (90) for CM and Laudrup (91) for CAM. For the ST position, we recommend Kluivert (91) because his game performance is way above the ratings.
