Heroes (Dota 2)

The heroines and heroes (original: “Heroes”) are the primary playable entities in DotA and Dota 2. In a game, each player takes control of one of the 112 playable heroines and heroes. Each hero and heroine is a character with different attributes, abilities and roles. Each heroine and hero can also be categorized by the default attacks, which happen either in melee or ranged attacks.

Valve plans to develop their own heroines and heroes for Dota 2 after the release of the classic heroines and heroes from DotA Allstars, as Erik Johnson previously announced in a 2014 interview. After the release of Arc Warden in December 2015 and that of Underlord in August 2016, the first hero developed exclusively for Dota 2, Monkey King, appeared in winter 2016, although it was at least based on concepts from classic DotA and appeared there as an event boss opponent. The Dueling Fates update announced in August 2017 confirmed the release of two completely redesigned heroes.

Huskar: “My life is in your hands.”

Huskar, the Sacred Warrior, is a strength hero from DotA and Dota 2. The ranged fighter Huskar belongs to the Radiant. In the game he can take on the role of a Carry, Initiator and Durabler. Most of Huskar’s abilities are related to his health level and most of them don’t require mana to be cast. In fact, Inner Vitality is Huskar’s only ability that consumes mana. It heals Huskar or allied heroes for 16 seconds, according to their primary attribute. If the affected Hero has less than 40% of his Health, the ability heals him faster. Burning Spear lets Huskar set his spears on fire to damage enemy units over time. Huskar can always choose to light his spears permanently, light individual spears, or not use the ability. His passive ability Berserker’s Blood grants him a higher attack speed as well as a higher resistance to magic, which increases with missing health points. With his Ultimate Life Break, Huskar attacks an enemy hero by jumping on them and slowing them down by half their speed for five seconds. In doing so, he deals damage based on the opponent’s current number of health points. Aghanim’s Scepter can be used to reduce the cooldown of the ultimate and increase the damage.

As his health drops, Huskar’s ability to slaughter his opponents increases significantly. Using his ultimate ability, he can instantly sacrifice a portion of his life and that of his opponent, and then, as soon as he faces death, throw his burning spears with devastating speed.

“When he was torn from the raging torrents of the Nothl realm, the first thing Huskar saw was the magnanimous Shadow Priest Dazzle, who cast a deep deliverance spell upon him. Contrary to the ancient rites of the Order of Dezun, Huskar’s spirit had been rescued from infinity, but like all who had entered the Nothl, he was now irrevocably changed. Stripped of the favor of a mortal body, his lifeblood became the source of unimaginable powers; each lost drop of blood shot back into his body in fiery bursts of energy tenfold in strength. Although Huskar’s newfound gift had brought him to tremendous power, Dazzle denied him a place among the gods because of his failure in the Nothl. He had not been accepted despite his sacred sacrifice. To the elders, who were striving to expand their sphere of influence, Huskar came just in time to support their campaign. But that he should now become a tool of that order, which had denied him his innate right, only increased his anger. As the first ash clouds rose on the horizon, he fled his old home to find new allies and finally unleash the power of his ultimate sacrifice for a higher cause.”
