Heroes Dota 2 – Rubick

Rubick: “I am Rubick, the Grand Magus.”

Rubick, the Grand Magus , is an intelligence hero from DotA and Dota 2. Rubick is a ranged Radiant unit and is able to copy the last used ability of an enemy hero and temporarily use it himself. In the game, he can primarily take on the role of a Disabler and Nuker, but can also be used in far more versatile ways depending on the abilities he steals. Rubick’s first ability, Telekinesis, lets him lift an enemy unit into the air, which stuns surrounding enemies as it descends. Telekinesis Land allows Rubick to set the landing location while doing this, but it can’t be too far away. Fade Bolt jumps around between enemy units, temporarily reducing their attack power and damaging them. However, with each additional jump, the incoming damage is reduced. Rubick’s passive ability Null Field increases his and nearby allies’ magic resistance. As mentioned earlier, Rubick can use his Ultimate Spell Steal to steal an enemy hero’s last cast ability and keep it for a set amount of time or until he dies, using it as his own. However, he cannot steal passive abilities or the effects of items in the process. By possessing Aghanim’s Scepter, Rubick gains any upgrades that the abilities stolen from heroes might have, regardless of whether the affected hero possesses the scepter himself.

Always seeking a new spell to steal, Rubick is ever eager to turn an enemy’s most unique advantage against them. Snatching his enemies into the air to fling them where he will, he has no trouble sowing chaos among careless foes.

“Any mage can cast a spell or two, and one or two may have even studied long enough to become a warlock, but only those of the highest talent may call themselves magus. As is always the case with wizarding societies, however, a sense of belonging does not guarantee honorable competition.

Although he already enjoyed considerable recognition as a duelist and scholar of the higher magical arts, it had never occurred to Rubick that he might one day rise to the rank of magus until a moment during the seventh attempt on his life. As he was about to topple the twelfth man of a group of failed assassins en passant from a high balcony, it dawned on him how utterly unimaginative the attacks on his life had become. Whereas before the occasional snap of a finger or fireball could provide him with welcome variety, now everything had become so predictable. He thirsted for a greater challenge. So he put on his battle mask and did what any warlock aspiring to a higher rank would have done: he announced that he was going to kill a magus.

Rubick quickly found that one magus’ challenge was equal to everyone’s, and together they went at it. Each spell cast by his opponents was an unstoppable stream of energy, and each attack a deadly assault. But soon something happened that Rubick’s adversaries had not expected: Their forces seemed to turn against them. Inside the magical maelstrom sat a gurgling Rubick who, with cunning precision, harnessed the abilities of one to play them off against the other, sowing chaos among those aligned against him. Accusations of treason made the rounds and it was not long before the wizards turned on each other without a clue as to who was behind their undoing. When the fighting finally came to an end, they all lay burned, frozen, bloated, cut and pierced on the ground. Not just one had perished at the hands of an ally. Rubick stood apart, battered but delighted by the previous week’s festivities. When he presented his request for admission to the Hidden Council, none of them were in a position to offer any objection, and so the Unreal Eleven unanimously bestowed upon him the title of Grand Magus.”

Heroes (Dota 2)

The heroines and heroes (original: “Heroes”) are the primary playable entities in DotA and Dota 2. In a game, each player takes control of one of the 112 playable heroines and heroes. Each hero and heroine is a character with different attributes, abilities and roles. Each heroine and hero can also be categorized by the default attacks, which happen either in melee or ranged attacks.

Valve plans to develop their own heroines and heroes for Dota 2 after the release of the classic heroines and heroes from DotA Allstars, as Erik Johnson previously announced in a 2014 interview. After the release of Arc Warden in December 2015 and that of Underlord in August 2016, the first hero developed exclusively for Dota 2, Monkey King, appeared in winter 2016, although it was at least based on concepts from classic DotA and appeared there as an event boss opponent. The Dueling Fates update announced in August 2017 confirmed the release of two completely redesigned heroes.
