How to master defending in FIFA 22

Defense is the key to success in FIFA. In this video, we’ll show you what’s important when defending and give you some helpful tips.

It’s the same in FIFA 22 as in the last years: If you want to be successful in FIFA, you first have to master the defense. As the saying goes: offense wins games, defense wins championships! That’s why in the first weeks of the new FIFA – Season , you should always make sure that you’ve mastered the basics of defense before you fine-tune your game by learning skill moves, for example.

In the following tip video we explain you what it takes in FIFA 22 to slow down your opponents in their offensive actions. It’s about the defense mechanisms of tackles and the jockey defense, but also about switching players and the support of a second man. If you take these tips to heart, your opponents will cut their teeth on your defense.

Extra tip: Defend more manually than ever before!

Finally, we would like to give you another important tip: Defend manually more than ever and don’t trust the computer-controlled players too much. Many players liked to leave the defending to the CPU players in older FIFA releases. And that was quite understandable. CPU players behaved very intelligently in many game situations in the past.

In the meantime, however, this intelligent CPU behavior has been toned down and manual defending is more necessary than ever because the CPU players don’t accomplish too much anymore. The exception: you have absolute top players on defense – like Virgil van Dijk or David Alaba, for example. In this case, the CPU defense can be helpful from time to time.

I urge you to practice manual defending with the tips mentioned in the video and take responsibility for your defensive actions yourself. The time when you can rely on the CPU players for the most part is over.
