Squad Building Challenges can make your dream of a top team come true in FUT 22. Here’s how to increase your chances of winning Bronze Packs on Icons!
For the most part, the term “crafting” is hardly associated with soccer. But due to the popularity of the Squad Building Challenges (SBCs) in FIFA Ultimate Team, it’s gaining notoriety. Basically, it involves circulating insignificant player cards through the random upgrades of the SBCs until you finally get a card with high value for it. You then use these newly gained cards to craft expensive SBC players that would otherwise cost a lot of coins. For many players who like to spend their time in the menus and the companion app, crafting has almost become a religion.
How SBC Crafting Works

The goal of SBC Crafting is to unlock a valuable SBC player without spending thousands and thousands of coins. Along the way, you’ll open a lot of packs, and with a little luck, you’ll snag an expensive promo card or a significant player or two.
Which SBC players can be unlocked depends on the – Season . For example, a Premier League Player of the Month Bruno Fernandes card was recently available for purchase. This required two 84-rated squads, plus one 85, 86, 87 and 88-rated squad each. If you had to buy all the cards in the store, you would have had to pay 1.2 million coins.
The exact crafting method always depends on the available SBCs, but the basic principle is always the same: you put your unnecessary cards into the upgrade SBC over and over again, along with the newly-acquired duplicates or unusable cards, until you get enough valuable cards out to complete the Squad Challenge for that player.
The best Squad Building Challenge upgrades

During a FUT promotion, you can get the maximum benefit from your crafting because valuable time-limited SBC upgrades are available.
One example is the Team of the Year. Here, league-specific upgrade SBCs are usually online for about a week. This allows players to trade in a squad of regular or rare gold players for packs of twelve Gold Premier League players (including 3 rare gold players).
The most effective method is also one of the oldest, and that is by combining the Promo Events with the grind of the Bronze Pack Method (BPM). In BPM, you open as many 400-coin Bronze Packs as you can, keep all the players, and sell everything of value in trainers and kits. Any players that accrue in this process and come from strong leagues can then be used for the aforementioned league SBCs.
The unusable bronze players from the packs you put into the bronze squad SBCs, which gives you two silver cards for each bronze squad. The Silver cards that can’t be used for League SBCs will go on towards the next upgrade SBC to get Gold cards out. The latter will then go into the main upgrade SBCs. This is the cycle of FUT SBC crafting!

The main SBC types:
- Bronze, Silver and Gold Upgrades – These upgrade SBCs are active throughout the year and let you trade from one level to the next. For example, eleven silver players will get you three gold players.
- League SBCs – EA already changed the SBCs a lot in FIFA 21 Ultimate Team by removing special player item rewards. It’s also important to note that these SBCs are now time-limited, often running for a duration of 90 days. After that, you’ll have to complete every aspect of the challenge all over again.
- Promo Upgrade SBCs – The aforementioned time-limited SBCs brought the following challenges last FUT – Season : 2x guaranteed 82-88 rated players, 2x 81 rated players, player choice of 4x 80+ players, etc.
- SBC Players – The goal of the whole thing: channel your cards up to these most expensive players – including Player of the Month and Icons cards.

What to do with duplicate cards?

Sometimes you open a pack and get a non-exchangeable duplicate of a card you’ve already purchased. This especially hurts if it is of high value. You can get out of the Reward screen and see if you can put the original card in a suitable SBC, but if you can’t, you’re stuck with a duplicate. If none is available, you are faced with the question of whether to get rid of the card right away or not open any more packs until you “recycle” it.
If possible, you should always put such cards in the SBCs. If you can’t, then it’s a good candidate for the “Quick Sell Recovery” feature of the Web and Companion App. This way, you can restore the card that you sold quickly here later – you are allowed to use this option up to five times a month. The good thing about this is that you only have to pay the value of the card, which is exactly zero for non-exchangeable cards.
On the console, there’s another option available for non-exchangeable super cards when you open the pack. Let’s say you have the original card equipped with an expensive Chem style and you don’t want to lose it. None of the cards, neither the original nor the brand new duplicate, show up for the transfer list. Fortunately, you can easily swap them out, but only if your original card hasn’t found use in an SBC yet.
Time for crafting!

With patience in crafting and the necessary focus on the time-limited SBCs, you will get the players that otherwise could only be bought by spending vast sums in the store. Good luck!
