Invasion is a medium multiplayer map from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. It is set in Afghanistan and is based on the single player mission Team Player.
Description
Invasion is quite similar to the map Crash from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, as there are a lot of elevated places, close quarters fights and cover. It is actually based on the area where the helicopter crashes in the Late Effects mission in Modern Warfare. On the east side, the exact same road exists that Jackson used to rescue a soldier from the helicopter.
Invasion is perfect for blowing up other players with cars using C4, because you can hide it among the many vehicles on the bridge and in the city. There are nine military cars in total, but only seven of them can explode because the two on the far left of the bridge are basically untouchable. In Search & Destroy, players can immediately fire grenade launchers at the enemies’ spawn point, which has serious consequences, especially in Hardcore.
Invasion was also originally supposed to appear in Call of Duty 4 as part of the Variety map pack, but all that remains of that idea is the loading screen and minimap information in the game files.
Info
- There is a store full of manikins that are also used in The New One.
- In some streets you can find posters of Khaled Al-Asad.
- Just like in the map Afghan, the player can stand by the machine gun on the military truck.
- The cab that stands right by the spawn point from the OpFor bears the initials IW, another of Infinity Ward’s numerous hidden allusions.
- In most of the streets, there are newspapers on the ground that show a picture of the bomb that killed Jackson and his squad.
- In the room that seems to be a restaurant, with the bar chairs and the counter, the roof has slightly collapsed and players can crawl into the gap.
- The perfect place to surprise unwary enemies. All you have to do is jump on the counter and then alternate jumping and ducking until the player has alcove. It is difficult for other players to spot anyone in this location unless they are looking really hard.
- The building across from the gas station has a huge glass window that can be smashed. However, the blinds prevent you from really getting through.
- In one of the streets there is a green jeep with blood on the steering wheel and dashboard. This could be a reference to The Enemy of My Enemy, or Infinity Ward just decided to reuse the model with Rook’s brain matter. Several of those green jeeps with the same blood markings are also at the gas station.
- If you switch to spectator mode and dive under the map, you’ll find a destroyed Russian jeap from Call of Duty 4 and some tanks.
- Even with C4, it’s impossible to destroy the white van.
- Invasion and Favela have both been removed from the Variety map pack for Call of Duty 4.
- Standing still somewhere on the map, either in private play or when you’re alone, you can hear someone talking in the background. Most of
of it doesn’t mean anything, though. - In Call of Duty 4 the stop signs were supposed to be written in Russian, in Modern Warfare 2 they switched to English and Arabic.
Call of Duty
The Call of Duty series has existed since 2003 and in addition to various spin-offs, including for the handheld systems Nintendo DS and Sony PSP, 14 major titles of the series have now been released. Ever since the first part of the series, great emphasis has been placed on the online multiplayer mode in addition to the single-player campaign, which is also reflected in the development of the shooter series. Since the first Call of Duty, World at War, which was developed exclusively by Treyarch, each part also included cooperative challenges that you could play together with friends. The latest installment, Call of Duty: World War II, also features an extended multiplayer mode that puts you and your friends in the combat zones and famous battles of World War II. Using the divisions, you’ll be able to choose between the deadly sniper and the brute armored division and support your comrades in battle. In addition, World War II also has a zombie mode “Nazi Zombies”, as in its predecessor Call of Duty: Black Ops. Face the monsters of the Third Reich and win glory and honor.
