Oilrig is an annihilation card in Counter – Strike . Oilrig is the only map of this mode to ever be officially released and has never seen a reprint since Counter-Strike due to the unpopularity of the map and its mode. On the map, a VIP must be taken to the surface of an oil rig by the counter-terrorist squad and protected from the terrorists .

Counter Strike
The map was created by Chris “MacMan” Ashton and has only been updated once. They replaced the model of the plane, which was an Apache from Half-Life , with a specially created model that represents a Westland Wessex. This model was created by Agent Orange. In the Counter-Strike beta, Oilrig was one of five planned Annihilation maps, along with Forest , Highrise , Riverside , and Tundra . However, since the mode didn’t have great balance and popularity, the other maps were removed again and only Oilrig remained in the final version ofGet Counter Strike .

Oilrig is still included as a map in Condition Zero , but was not renewed for the game and remained in the old version from Counter-Strike . Only the model of the VIP has been revised for the new release.

- Oilrig wasn’t used in canon after Counter-Strike , but Black Gold ‘s bomb scenario map at least picked up the location on an oil platform.
