On the map Ilios you fight for control of the point on up to three different maps. The player who wins two maps wins the entire game. In our map guide, we show you the most important points on Ilios.

Which map you start with is always different.So our first picture doesn’t have to be the first position you fight over. In our map guide to Ilios, we show you the crucial points on the map and how you can ideally exploit certain situations with your hero.
We show you three large overview maps with drawings of the best positions, the focal points, the most important medipacks, sniper positions and the best places for towers. Below the large overview image, we have described the drawn-in points in detail.
Overwatch: Ilios – First checkpoint
Ilios point 1: The cover opposite
No matter what team you play on this map: Position 1 is the first rally point or cover you seek before rushing to the objective. This is also where you’ll find a medipack.
Ilios point 2: The checkpoint
This little house is where the action takes place. The narrow entrances make it difficult for ranged fighters to catch players who are inside the building. There is deep water to the left and right, so don’t get pushed down. There is a medipack in the back of the building.
Ilios Point 3 – The way to the point
The sneak paths from the spawn point to the checkpoint are small and narrow. If you’re not careful here, you’ll get caught by Symmetra’s selfies or the barrage of Junkrat or Pharah. Ranged fighters can position themselves on the rooftops. Directly opposite, the enemy team has the same position. From there, you can take the checkpoint under fire if players are not paying attention to their cover.

Ilios Point 4: The Ruins
On our second map, the checkpoint is slightly larger, but offers just as little protection as on the first map. Here Snipers have some nice positions as in picture detail above (6). Because this control map is also very small, a Soldier:76 or a Tracer can always quickly come around the corner and spoil your fun. The point itself can only be taken from three relatively easy to survey points, so you should rarely be surprised otherwise. Just like the map above, it gets interesting when one team has pushed the other back. Otherwise, the fighting is right at the point.
Ilios point 5: The side path
As mentioned earlier, there are no real sneak paths on this map. You can stab the enemy in the back on the right (see the Medipack inscription), but you will be easily seen there. The other way is through a side entrance, where you will find yourself on the bridge (point 5) after a short run. From there you can happily shoot at the target point (if they let you). But be prepared that you are not the only one with this idea – the enemy has the same running path on the other side.

Ilios point 7: Blessed is he who can jump high
At the big lighthouse (near the checkpoint) you have a fantastic position as a ranged fighter like Widowmaker, Hanzo Pharah, but also Genji, as long as none of the enemy team can reach high positions. From there you are so entrenched that you can hardly die, and you have all the important points in view. You’ll probably get on the enemy’s nerves so much that they’ll be forced to switch heroes so your team doesn’t get too many kills.
Ilios point 8: Secure the gates
On the left and right you can see the entrances to the big buildings. On this map, both teams usually make the unspoken law that everyone controls one of the two rooms. After all, you don’t want to be too much in the middle against various classes that can push you into the abyss. Heroes like Reinhardt or Winston cover the position ideally with their shields. Especially ranged fighters like Torbjörn or Bastion need your protection to deal maximum damage. A tank, a supporter and a hero with proper rumble should always secure a house.
Ilios point 9: The death trap
In the middle of the checkpoint is a deep chasm. Whoever falls into the hole in the middle is immediately history. If you are playing the map for the first time, you will often fall to your death even though the checkpoint is not even active yet. So always stay away from the edge. Heroes like D.Va or Pharah can easily push you into the abyss. Roadhog with his tow hook pulls enemies in from the opposite side and drops them into the hole from the air. So be alert if these heroes are present in the enemy team.
Ilios point 10: Good ranged position
At this point, you’ll be a sitting duck for stragglers running through the big house at point 15. If you’re lucky or have cover, and are supported by your teammates, you can pick up a kill or two here with some aiming water. If things get too heated, run to the back for cover.

Ilios point 12: For the very careful ones
If you don’t want to jump into the battle for the point with a fragile hero or can’t due to a lack of health points, you can look for a position behind the fences and hope that something runs in front of your shotgun. Junkrat’s projectiles as well as Hanzo’s arrows are particularly annoying. Even if it doesn’t look like it at first glance, the holey fences offer protection from projectiles, but a missile from Paharah does area damage. The enemy usually does not even notice you in the fight for the point here.
Overwatch Maps
In Overwatch, heroes fight in a variety of locations around the world. From the technological wonder Numbani to the production center Volskaya, each map has its own layout and very specific conditions that your team must fulfill in order to win.
The battles of the heroes of Overwatch will be fought on the various maps. At the same time, the locations differ not only because of their scenery, but also their modes.
If you want to play successfully in Overwatch, you need to know not only the heroes, but also their surroundings. After all, the different maps offer a variety of flanks to stab the enemy team in the back, in addition to the main path. However, not all of them are suitable for everyone. We’ll also show you the most popular places for snipers and where turrets like to hide. Knowing the position of the medipacks is also a big advantage in the battle. We will show you all this in our detailed map guides. For a better overview, we have divided the maps into the three game modes. We’ll start with point capture and then move on to cargo transport/escort and control.
