The Valorant esports scene is booming and growing in popularity as more and more pros and streamers jump on the hype. Today we take a look at the 5 features Valorant still needs and should be at the top of Riot’s to-do list!
Valorant as a standalone game is awesome, but as a competitive tactical shooter it can be a bit lackluster at times. It’s actually amazing that it has such a popular eSports scene considering the game is still young. I don’t want to bash Valorant too much, but it still looks like it’s in beta, albeit a very late beta.
1: Valorant needs a replay feature
Without a replay feature or a way to see how you died or who killed you, the game will always have this dark cloud hanging over it. We all know this as “Peeker’s Advantage”, the number one excuse used by pros and casuals alike. In simpler terms, your low ping versus the other player’s high ping means you can see them before they see you. When you jump out of a corner, you basically have a clear shot. With a replay feature, we could see if it’s actually the peeper’s advantage, or just your slow reaction time.
Also, a replay feature would allow you to learn from your mistakes and learn from better players. No replay is simply a fail…and will be a desired feature until it is implemented.
2: Valorant needs agent skins
Valorant needs agent skins, period. Everyone must be sick of seeing a mirror copy of their character in a match. Skins are a must in any game because players want to customize! It can also be confusing from an eSports perspective. Which Jett is on my team now? You could even try out team jersey designs for each agent.
3: Valorant needs more maps
Even with the additions of Icebox and Breeze to the mappool, Valorant desperately needs more maps. To make matters worse, you have no control over which map you play, and that frustrates the player base. Nothing is fun about randomly playing the same map three times in a row. With map selection before the match starts and more maps, the Valorant playerbase will be much happier.
4: Valorant needs community tournaments.
Riot Games should take notes from competitive Fortnite, as they often host free tournaments where players can compete for free exclusive skins. If Valorant had a daily tournament or community tournaments where squads could compete for free skins or just a stake, it would make Valorant much more interesting.
5: Valorant needs more weapons
There is no variety in weapons! So, there are basically three weapons in Valorant that you want to use: Phantom, Vandal, and Operator (now too expensive). The rest of the weapons are just fillers and are only used if you can’t afford Phantom or Vandal. This really only happens in early rounds, or if you die every round.
Now, the game has some interesting weapons like the Bulldog and Guardian, but they just don’t have a place in the meta, since in Valorant often only Run and Gun or Spray and Pray works.
Maybe the Vandal and Phantom need to be generfed so they aren’t just auto picks. Riot could also make completely different cards that encourage more ranged tactics. Right now all Valorant maps feel the same, as they are just a series of rooms connected by corridors of varying lengths. So more maps Riot, please.

What is Valorant?
Valorant initially appears to be a cross between CS:Go and Overwatch . A competitive shooter where two small teams compete against each other.
Your team is either ready to attack or defend, with the attackers placing a “stinger” (essentially a bomb) that the other team must then defuse or preferably prevent you from placing at all.
The attacking team can win by either eliminating the defenders or placing the stinger and then protecting it from defusing until the timer runs out. The defenders can similarly win by destroying the attackers before they have a chance to plant their stinger, or disarming the stinger after it has been planted.
Each team of five can play as both attackers and defenders during a game. Each game has a total of 25 rounds, with the first team to win 13 rounds declared the winner
