Patch 2.08 for Valorant is expected to make some serious changes to the title by adding coaching seats to the game. Is a spectator mode on the way as well?
Valorant’s patch 2.07 was released a few days ago, and it turned out to be absolutely identical to last week’s leak. Many were hoping that another leak regarding the coaching seats would also be true, but that’s no longer necessary: Riot Games has officially confirmed it. A leak of the feature was previously posted on Twitter by Valorant Leaks and, as usual, it turned out to be true.
Coaching spots confirmed by Riot
In the latest Ask Valorant blog post, Riley Yurk has revealed that coaching spots are coming to Valorant:
It’s Official! Coaching spots will be in the game starting in 2.08! As an esport, we’re looking forward to coaches playing a bigger role in matches and want to provide more analysis tools in the future. We care a lot about the relationship between coaches and players and the dynamic it creates in our e-sports. We have some ideas that we want to implement in the future and for this we are talking to players (who take a leading role in the game) and coaches in the near future to realize the plans. In 2.08, the basic framework for this feature will be built in so we can build on it in the future. We look forward to developing coaching and support features with the help of VCT participants.
Coaching seats could be just what we’re thinking about – the opportunity for team coaches to enter the game and observe their team. What else could it be? In any case, Valorant Esports should be getting a lot better soon.
What about a spectator mode?
The introduction of coaching seats with the upcoming patch 2.08 leads to another question – what about casual players and spectator mode? When your friends are playing, you can only watch them via a stream. The introduction of a proper spectator mode will be quite an improvement for Valorant, as this is one of the biggest drawbacks compared to CS:GO.
Spectator mode is a common feature in many other competitive titles like CS:GO and Dota 2. Spectators usually have a delay of a few minutes to prevent them from interfering in any way. Another advantage of a possible spectator mode for the eSports scene is that players can watch their favorite players directly without having to enter a live stream. What is Valorant?
Valorant initially appears to be a cross between CS:Go and Overwatch . A competitive shooter where two small teams compete against each other.
Your team is either ready to attack or defend, with the attackers placing a “stinger” (essentially a bomb) that the other team must then defuse or preferably prevent you from placing at all.
The attacking team can win by either eliminating the defenders or placing the stinger and then protecting it from defusing until the timer runs out. The defenders can similarly win by destroying the attackers before they have a chance to plant their stinger, or disarming the stinger after it has been planted.
Each team of five can play as both attackers and defenders during a game. Each game has a total of 25 rounds, with the first team to win 13 rounds declared the winner
