100 Thieves Valorant player Spencer ‘Hiko’ Martin has once again called the Valorant ranking system “trash”. Is it really that bad?
The Valorant ranking system has been a hot topic for almost a year now. Back when it was first released, rank names were a big issue. Riot Games eventually changed the rank to “Valorant” and a lot of confusion was eliminated. But what about the actual ranking system? Well, according to many casual and pro players, it leaves a lot to be desired. Spencer ‘Hiko’ Martin took it a step further and simply called it “trash”.
Hiko hates the Valorant Ranking System
Hiko isn’t really happy with the Valorant Ranking system and he’s definitely not the only pro player who has this opinion. Yesterday he made that clear in a live stream when he was chatting with his chat.
According to Hiko, every game in the high ranks of Valorant is a coin flip – your team is either good or bad and there’s nothing in between. The other problem is boosted players/account buyers:
The problem I have is when someone looks boosted. When they look like they have no idea what they’re doing, they have no idea how to use their abilities, their crosshair placement is on the ground. If you miss shots, ok. If you go 3-15, ok. But the problem is people who literally don’t know how to play the game.
Many of his viewers argued that this problem is most prevalent in the higher tiers where Hiko resides.
I feel like in Ranked you shouldn’t get more points when you get carted or boosted. Especially for lower ranks, if you are in duo or trio and go 3-18 every game but win 13-1, you shouldn’t get any points at all. Something they should consider: if you get blatantly booted, those games where you have 5 kills but win, you shouldn’t get any elo.

What is Valorant?
Valorant initially appears to be a cross between CS:Go and Overwatch . A competitive shooter where two small teams compete against each other.
Your team is either ready to attack or defend, with the attackers placing a “stinger” (essentially a bomb) that the other team must then defuse or preferably prevent you from placing at all.
The attacking team can win by either eliminating the defenders or placing the stinger and then protecting it from defusing until the timer runs out. The defenders can similarly win by destroying the attackers before they have a chance to plant their stinger, or disarming the stinger after it has been planted.
Each team of five can play as both attackers and defenders during a game. Each game has a total of 25 rounds, with the first team to win 13 rounds declared the winner
