Update from August 27, 2019, 1:30 p.m.: All steps for the special research “A Thousand-Year Sleep” in Pokémon Go are now known, through which you can earn the mysterious Pokémon Jirachi from the 3rd game generation. We have updated our guide for the special research accordingly. At the end of the game, you will receive a lot of experience points for your trainer, Jirachi candies, a Jirachi shirt and, of course, the encounter with Jirachi. Original news from August 21, 2019: Trainers in Pokémon Go have completed all three global challenges. As a reward, among other things, the special field research on Jirachi was unlocked. In the guide, we show you which tasks await you. Players who have already caught Jirachi via the Pokémon Go Fest in Chicago will receive several Jirachi candies at the end of the special field research to level it up.
In total, six of the seven steps are already known.
Pokémon Go: A thousand years of sleep (1/7)
Task:
- Catch 25 Pokémon – 1,000 XP.
- Turn 10 PokéStops or arenas – encounter with Pummeluff
- Make 3 new friends – encounter with Barschwa
Reward: 1 x Glacier Lock Module, 1 x Moss Lock Module, 1 x Magnet Lock Module

Task:
- Catch 3 Flurmel – 10 Flurmel candies.
- Evolve a Barschwa – 1,500 XP
- Unlock the Golden Hoenn Medal – 1,500 XP
Reward: 2,000 stardust, 10 x Pokéball, 3 x smoke.
*To evolve Barschwa, you must have walked 20 kilometers with it as a buddy.
Pokémon Go: A Thousand Year Sleep (3/7).
Task:
- Take a snapshot of Krakeelo – encounter with Relaxo.
- Land 3 great throws in a row – 2,000 XP.
- Earn 3 candies with your buddy – 2.000 XP
Reward: 20 x Silver Sanana Berry, 3 x Star Piece, 2,000 Stardust

Task:
- Catch 50 Psycho or Steel Pokémon – 2,500 XP.
- Use 10 power ups on Pokémon – 2,500 XP
- Send ten gifts to friends – 2,500 XP

If you have already caught Jirachi, you will receive an extra 20 Jirachi candies instead of the encounter.
Pokémon GO
Pokémon Go is the mobile spin-off of Nintendo’s popular Pokémon game series for Android and iOS. It is a so-called “location-based game”, i.e. a game that uses the player’s immediate surroundings. It is based on the principle of augmented reality.
Pokémon Map: Between landmarks and sights
Pokémon Go uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine the player’s location and displays it on a map that also represents the playing field. The map is based on OpenStreetMap maps. The game is played mostly outdoors and uses landmarks, landmarks and other notable or eye-catching objects in the world to position either PokéStops or arenas there for you to battle for supremacy. Join either Team Intuition (Team Yellow, Zapdos), Team Wisdom (Team Blue, Arktos), or Team Daring (Team Red, Lavados). Under their flag you can then fight for the arenas, which are placed at hotspots like churches or similar. Pokémon can appear anywhere, though.
Pocket monsters visible on the Pokémon Go Map are randomly loaded into the game’s virtual map by the game server. If several players are playing in the same location, each player can see and catch the Pokémon independently of the others.

The Pokémon Go Raids are therefore very popular, as they also offer the prospect of particularly rare Pokémon. For example, in the past, legendary Pokémon could always be caught on special occasions (Pokémon Go events).
