At the last Community Day in March, Pokémon GO fans were able to get their hands on a Gewaldro including the Flora Statue attack. But what good is the attack and how does it change Gewaldro’s role in the meta?
Community Day for March is over, and many Pokémon GO fans should now be richer with a Gewaldro including the plant attack Flora Statue. But the all-important question on trainers’ minds revolves around Gewaldro’s role in the meta – does Flora Statue move the plant Pokémon forward? We’re about to tell you. Minor spoiler: It looks pretty good.
Flora Statue is a charge attack that costs two bars (PvE) or 45 Energy (PvP) and has a base damage value of 100. A quick look at the DPS values of the best possible attack combination of Kugelsaat and Flora-Statue, according to Pokemongohub, gives a first indication of how well Flora-Statue works in the meta for Gewaldro: The moveset of Bullet Seed and Flora Statue causes 16.25 DPS, which is 1.55 DPS higher than the best combination of Bullet Seed and Leaf Blade so far.
But how well does Gewaldro do with Bullet Seed and Flora Statue compared to other plant Pokémon? In short, not bad. Gewaldro is behind Roserade in terms of DPS and TDO in PvE, and behind Bisaflor in terms of pure TDO.
As a Plant-type Pokémon, it’s particularly useful in battling Groudon with Solar Beam – though Gewaldro absolutely lags behind Roserade here. Compared to Bisaflor, the TTW is lower, but trainers have to accept two more deaths with Gewaldro than with Bisaflor.
In direct comparison with the other top counters against Groudon with Solar Beam like (ALoLa) Kokowei and Tangoloss, however, the differences between the previously best Gewaldro moveset Sphere Seed/Leaf Blade and the new combination Sphere Seed/Flora Statue become clear: The TTW decreases by a good 70 seconds, while the number of deaths drops by ten. Thus, Gewaldro clearly overtakes the two Pokémon Kokowei and Tangoloss, at least in TTW, and is practically equal in deaths.
A key advantage Gewaldro has over Roserade and Bisaflor comes into play when Gewaldro uses Bullet Seed and Flora Statue against ground Pokémon with ground attacks, such as Groudon with Clay Shot and Earthquake. The vulnerability of both plant/poison Pokémon Bisaflor and Roserade to ground attacks gives Gewaldro an advantage here – though it needs sunny weather to completely pass Roserade.
But Gewaldro can certainly score points in PvP with Flora-Statue: Flora Statue has the best DPS of all plant attacks in PvP at 2.22. However, Gewaldro has to fall behind Pokémon like Bisaflor and Meganie in terms of defense and stamina. In general, Gewaldro is best used as an addition to your team in PvP, preferably with the bug attack Wrath Blade to counter Psycho, Plant, and Unlight Pokémon.

Pokémon Map: Between landmarks and sights
Pokémon Go uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine the player’s location and displays it on a map that also represents the playing field. The map is based on OpenStreetMap maps. The game is played mostly outdoors and uses landmarks, landmarks and other notable or eye-catching objects in the world to position either PokéStops or arenas there for you to battle for supremacy. Join either Team Intuition (Team Yellow, Zapdos), Team Wisdom (Team Blue, Arktos), or Team Daring (Team Red, Lavados). Under their flag you can then fight for the arenas, which are placed at hotspots like churches or similar. Pokémon can appear anywhere, though.
Pocket monsters visible on the Pokémon Go Map are randomly loaded into the game’s virtual map by the game server. If several players are playing in the same location, each player can see and catch the Pokémon independently of the others.

The developers at Niantic regularly provide Pokémon Go with new updates or special raids that should only be tackled in a group of several people. The Pokémon Go Raids are therefore very popular, as they also offer the prospect of particularly rare Pokémon. For example, in the past, legendary Pokémon could always be caught on special occasions (Pokémon Go events). For particularly eager mobile or smartphone Pokémon trainers, there is also an external IV calculator, such as the online tool from Pokemon.gameinfo.io or on Pokefans.net, to check the values of your Pokémon.
