PoGO – Pokémon GO: Hoenn sale in PoGo – are special box, super box, hyper box worth it?

The Hoenn event is currently active in Pokémon Go, and to go with it, the developers at Niantic have added new content to the Special Box, Superbox, and Hyperbox. These try to encourage both raiders and breeders to buy, however, both groups will not be particularly satisfied.

Pokémon Go fans are currently in Hoenn Event fever, and the creators at Niantic want to take advantage of this euphoria for the 3rd generation Pokémon and the two legendary Raid bosses, Groudon and Kyogre, to bring a few Special Boxes, Super Boxes and Hyperboxes to trainers.

However, the developers are trying to make both the brood fans among you and the raiders happy with the current offerings – and they’re not really succeeding; certain individual purchases are more worthwhile if you’re not after brood machines and premium raid passes at the same time. But let’s take a look at the content as usual. Below you will find the overview. How the quantities or items have changed in comparison to the last sale, we have indicated in the brackets behind.

On January 19, 2019, the first Limited Research will take place in Pokémon Go; between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., PokéStops will give you primarily Field Researches that will reward you with an encounter with Barschwa – it can also appear in its Shiny form. The only box that does justice to this event is the special box, which is worthwhile for beginners, as usual, because it contains ten Sanana Berries. If you then use them when catching the Barschwa, which you get through the field research, you’ll get double the amount of candy. However, the offer is not super attractive, especially for those who focus on either hatching eggs or raiding.

The only advantage of the Superbox over the Hyperbox is that you’ll get more raid passes if you buy multiple boxes. Starting with the fifth Superbox (3,900 Pokécoins), you will have more Raid Passes compared to the third Hyperbox (4,440 Pokécoins). But beware. This is really only worth it if you also want straight Super Brooders! If you only want Raid Passes, then the individual purchases are more worthwhile. The current fill of the Superbox and Hyperbox try to cater to both varieties of trainers, those who want to both brood and raid. Then the offers can be worthwhile even if there have been better ones in the past. With Hyperbox, after all, you get smoke on top of that, which comes in handy when incubating your pocket monster’s eggs. Now, you might think that the Superbox is a bit more geared towards the raiders among you because it includes lucky eggs.

Basically, the purchases can be argued currently, because until January 29, 2019, the Hoenn event is active. In the meantime, Groudon and Kyogre appear in Tier 5 Raids, two Pokémon that are still quite strong in the metagame. And you can find some third-generation Pokémon in the 7km eggs – though we wouldn’t recommend spending too much money on the Hyperbox if you really want to try to get some missing Gen 3 mon from 7km eggs. Currently, there are 28 different Mon in the 7km eggs, so the chances of finding a certain pocket monster or even its Shiny version are not very good. Pokémon Go is the mobile spin-off of Nintendo’s popular Pokémon game series for Android and iOS. It is a so-called “location-based game”, i.e. a game that uses the player’s immediate surroundings. It is based on the principle of augmented reality.

Pokémon Map: Between landmarks and sights

Pokémon Go uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine the player’s location and displays it on a map that also represents the playing field. The map is based on OpenStreetMap maps. The game is played mostly outdoors and uses landmarks, landmarks and other notable or eye-catching objects in the world to position either PokéStops or arenas there for you to battle for supremacy.
