PoGO – Pokémon GO: How to defeat Raid Boss Stolloss (Guide)

In Pokémon GO, players can currently take on a new third-generation Pokémon in the Raid: Stolloss. The Tier 4 Raid boss is a Steel/Stone type Pokémon that is best countered with Battle and Ground Pokémon. In our guide, we will tell you in detail how to maximize your chances in battle against Stolloss.

The third-generation steel/rock Pokémon called Stolloss, which looks a bit like Groudon, can now be fought and captured in Pokémon GO’s Tier 4 Raid. Stolloss has 33,458 Raid Boss CP and is best countered with Battle and Ground Pokémon. To give you the best possible chance against Stolloss, we’ll give you a number of tips in our guide based on an article from Pokemongohub, which in turn used a post from its own Discord group as a source, to help you fight the steel/rock Pokémon.

To defeat Stolloss, you should ideally take on the raid boss with four to seven trainers. According to Pokémongohub, however, it should also be possible to win the battle against Stolloss with a well-equipped group of three. The latter relies on the following Steel, Dragon, Rock, and Electric type attacks in battle, which deal decent damage:

Iron Tail (Steel)
Ram Boss (Steel)
Dragon Rod (Dragon)
Stone Edge (Rock)
Thunder (Electro)

Stolloss attacks intensify in snowy or partly cloudy conditions. Because Stolloss is of both Steel and Rock types, when choosing your counter team, you’ll do best with Battle and Ground Pokémon, against which Stolloss has a double weakness. You can also rely on Water Pokémon as filler if necessary. Overall, though, you’re best off with the following counter Pokémon:

Groudon with clay shot and earthquake
M achomei with counter and balancing blow
Hariyama with counter and balancing blow
Skaraborn with counter and close combat
Kapilz with counter and balancing blow
Lohgock with counter and focus strike
Quappo with smasher and balancing blow
Kyogre with waterfall and hydro pump

Try to focus your attacks against Stolloss for maximum damage output – some of the Battle Pokémon mentioned are glass cannons, and a Stone Edge attack from Stolloss can knock their socks off pretty quickly. Alternatives for ground Pokémon include Donphan and Rizeros – Kyogre should only be used if Stalloss doesn’t have Thunder.

If you manage to catch Stolloss and add it to your Pokémon team, you’ll have an excellent Steel Pokémon at your side. Stolloss is especially useful as a counter to Guardevoir and Rayquaza. However, Stolloss loses out to the dominant Machomei and Groudon in the Arena meta.

Pokémon GO

Pokémon Go is the mobile spin-off of Nintendo’s popular Pokémon game series for Android and iOS. It is a so-called “location-based game”, i.e. a game that uses the player’s immediate surroundings. It is based on the principle of augmented reality.

Pokémon Map: Between landmarks and sights

Pokémon Go uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine the player’s location and displays it on a map that also represents the playing field. The map is based on OpenStreetMap maps. The game is played mostly outdoors and uses landmarks, landmarks and other notable or eye-catching objects in the world to position either PokéStops or arenas there for you to battle for supremacy. Join either Team Intuition (Team Yellow, Zapdos), Team Wisdom (Team Blue, Arktos), or Team Daring (Team Red, Lavados). Under their flag you can then fight for the arenas, which are placed at hotspots like churches or similar. Pokémon can appear anywhere, though.

Pocket monsters visible on the Pokémon Go Map are randomly loaded into the game’s virtual map by the game server. If several players are playing in the same location, each player can see and catch the Pokémon independently of the others.

The developers at Niantic regularly provide Pokémon Go with new updates or special raids that should only be tackled in a group of several people. The Pokémon Go Raids are therefore very popular, as they also offer the prospect of particularly rare Pokémon. For example, in the past, legendary Pokémon could always be caught on special occasions (Pokémon Go events).
