The 2021 Light Festival brings Kobalium back to the Pokémon Go Raids. With a 100% chance, it will have the attack Sanctoklinge after your victory. And with a much lower chance you can get Kobalium shiny. To help you get through the battle, we’ve updated our Kobalium counter guide.

Update from November 5, 2021: In addition to Viridium and Terrakium, Kobalium will also appear in the Pokémon Go Raids during the 2021 Light Festival. The legendary pocket monster has the Sancto Blade attack when you catch it and can also land as a Shiny in front of your Pokéball if you’re lucky. To help you fight Kobalium as quickly as possible, we’ve updated our counter guide to Kobalium – but we’ve left out the Crypto Pokémon. They are already expensive to level.

  • Mega Glurak Y with Fire Whirl and Lohe Cannonade
  • Mega Glurak X with Fire Whirl and Lohe Cannonade
  • Reshiram with fire fang and heat rage
  • Lucario with counter and aurasphere
  • Mega-Hundemon with Fire Fang and Flame Throw
  • Meistagrif with counterattack and blast
  • Skelabra with Firewhirl and Heatwhirl
  • Flampivian with fire fang and heat puff
  • Lohgock with counter and lohe cannonade
  • Stalobor with clay clamor and strike drill
  • Entei with Fire Tooth and Heat Sore
  • Demeteros (animal spirit) with clay shot and earthquake
  • Machomei with counter and balancing blow

Original news from November 04, 2019: Joy among raiders and collectors, because in Pokémon Go can be found from November 4 at 10 pm (so in German-speaking countries in the early morning hours of November 5) the legendary Gen 5 Pokémon Kobalium. The member of the Knights of Probity, it is rumored, has a core of iron ore and belongs to the Steel and Battle types. In our counter guide to Kobalium in Pokémon Go, we’ll tell you everything you need to know about the raid boss and which pocket monsters are best to go into battle with.

Pokémon Go: Kobalium as a raid boss

As mentioned above, Kobalium is a legendary Pokémon of the type Steel and Battle. This means that it takes more damage from Fire, Ground, and Battle type attacks – whereas Kobalium is especially strong against Fairy, Ice, Rock, Normal, Unlight, and Steel type Pocket Monsters. You should therefore rely primarily on your Fire and Battle Pokémon if you want to encounter Kobalium in the Raid and emerge victorious from the battle.

Zen Headbutt (Psycho) and Metal Claw (Steel) are Kobalium’s possible instant attacks, and the charge attacks are a similar mix: Melee (Combat), Iron Skull (Steel), and Stone Edge (Rock) are the possible attacks that will hurt your attackers. However, none of the attacks are particularly dangerous, even if Stone Edge is very effective against Fire Pokémon. However, since Stone Edge is a single charge bar attack, you shouldn’t have any problems dodging it. Zen Headbutt, on the other hand, can hurt your Battle Pokémon a bit more, but it shouldn’t be murderously dangerous either.

You can tackle Kobalium with a group of three to five high-level trainers, or with five or more low-level trainers. The legendary is boosted in snow and cloudy weather. The “worst” combination is Metal Claw and Iron Skull, because Kobalium then benefits from the Steel STAB bonus. You will need a few more vivifiers and potions. The following counters are suitable for the fight against Kobalium:

  • Skelabra with fire fang and heat madness
  • Entei with fire fang and heat pandemonium
  • Heatran with fire whirl and fire storm
  • Lohgock with counter and lohecanonade
  • Flamara with firewhirl and heatstorm
  • Lavados with firewhirl and heatstorm
  • Machomei with counterattack and blast
  • Groudon with clay shot and earthquake
  • Knakrack with Clay Shot and Earthquake

If you still need to fill up your team, you can additionally grab the following Mon:

  • Hariyama with Counter and Blast
  • Kapilz with Counter and Blast
  • Dragoran with Fire Whirl and Lohe Cannonade
  • Toxiquak with counter and blast
  • Arkani with fire tooth and flame throw
  • Tornupto with glow and lohe cannonade

Pokémon Go: Catch Kobalium

If you have successfully completed the battle against Kobalium and have the chance to banish the pocket monster into your Pokéball, then Kobalium has 1,727 CP at level 20 with 100% IV values. If Kobalium is boosted to level 25 in snowy or cloudy weather, then it has 2,159 CP at perfect 100% IV values. We wish you good luck in your hunt!

Pokémon GO

Pokémon Go is the mobile spin-off of Nintendo’s popular Pokémon game series for Android and iOS. It is a so-called “location-based game”, i.e. a game that uses the player’s immediate surroundings. It is based on the principle of augmented reality.

Pokémon Map: Between landmarks and sights

Pokémon Go uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine the player’s location and displays it on a map that also represents the playing field. The map is based on OpenStreetMap maps. The game is played mostly outdoors and uses landmarks, landmarks and other notable or eye-catching objects in the world to position either PokéStops or arenas there for you to battle for supremacy. Join either Team Intuition (Team Yellow, Zapdos), Team Wisdom (Team Blue, Arktos), or Team Daring (Team Red, Lavados). Under their flag you can then fight for the arenas, which are placed at hotspots like churches or similar. Pokémon can appear anywhere, though.

Pocket monsters visible on the Pokémon Go Map are randomly loaded into the game’s virtual map by the game server. If several players are playing in the same location, each player can see and catch the Pokémon independently of the others.

Pokémon Go Updates, News, Raids and More

The developers at Niantic regularly provide Pokémon Go with new updates or special raids that should only be tackled in a group of several people. The Pokémon Go Raids are therefore very popular, as they also offer the prospect of particularly rare Pokémon. For example, in the past, legendary Pokémon could always be caught on special occasions (Pokémon Go events). For particularly eager mobile or smartphone Pokémon trainers, there is also an external IV calculator, such as the online tool from Pokemon.gameinfo.io or on Pokefans.net, to check the values of your Pokémon.
