Update from December 16, 2021: Shiny Kyurem in Pokémon Go – it exists! So … with some luck! The pocket monster can be seen over the Pokémon Go holidays in the Tier 5 Raids and can be grabbed for the first time since the release of the game as a shiny. Kyurem will be in the Tier 5 Raids from December 16, 2021 until 10:00am on December 31, 2021. Here is the current counter list for the battle!

Original news from May 31, 2020: After the legendary trios Knights of Integrity and Forces of Nature from the Einall region, the Tao trio is now coming to the Tier 5 Raids of Pokémon Go. Reshiram will be at home in the raids until June 16, 2020 at 10:00 p.m., when it will probably be replaced by Zekrom. And then it shouldn’t be too long before Kyurem can also be defeated as a raid boss – we currently expect this to happen in July 2020. Since the Tao trio is one of the most powerful metagame fighters in Pokémon Go, raiders among PoGo players in particular will want to secure several copies. Reshiram should be the most powerful fire attacker, Zekrom the strongest electric fighter. Kyurem is a strong competitor to the previous strongest ice Pokémon Mamutel.

However, it is not yet clear if Kyurem will only come into the game in its normal form, or if it will also come in the black or white version. The artwork that the folks at Niantic released with the announcement of the Tao trio only hints at Kyurem’s basic form for now. Time will tell what else will happen in that regard. Pokémon Go: Kyurem as a raid boss – counters

Like its esteemed colleagues, Kyurem is also a Pokémon that belongs to the dragons. Its second type is ice. With 43,478 CP as a Raid Boss, Kyurem is rather weak on the chest compared to its colleagues Reshiram and Zekrom, but this does not mean that it does not deal out properly. Pro raiders will tackle the battle with three trainers, but you’ll be safer with five to ten players. As a dragon-ice hybrid, Kyurem is boosted in snow and windy weather. This means that when it’s windy, your own dragon fighters will suffer from the instant attack Fire Oath, as well as the charge attacks Dragon Claw and Draco Meteor – remember that dragons take more damage from dragon attacks anyway. Due to the fact that Kyurem offers all sorts of dragon moves, you shouldn’t blindly go for dragon fighters.

In the summer, Kyurem’s potential ice charge attacks Blizzard and Ice Storm should play less of a role. However, since you’ll be using Battle, Steel, and Rock Pokémon more often, this won’t matter anyway. There is still Kyurem’s possible instant attack Steel Wing, which also only causes more damage in snow. However, your rock attackers will take a good beating from it. So keep that in mind when putting together your team for a fight. The following counters do very well against Kyurem (depending on your moveset):

Pokémon Go: Catch Kyurem

If you have successfully completed the battle against Kyurem, the freestyle follows after the duty and you have the chance to banish the pocket monster into your Pokéball. Then Kyurem has 2,042 CP at level 20 with 100% IV values. If Kyurem is boosted to level 25 in snowy or windy conditions, it will have 2,553 CP at perfect 100% IV levels. Pokémon Go is the mobile spin-off of Nintendo’s popular Pokémon game series for Android and iOS. It is a so-called “location-based game”, i.e. a game that uses the player’s immediate surroundings. It is based on the principle of augmented reality.

Pokémon Map: Between landmarks and sights

Pokémon Go uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine the player’s location and displays it on a map that also represents the playing field. The map is based on OpenStreetMap maps. The game is played mostly outdoors and uses landmarks, landmarks and other notable or eye-catching objects in the world to position either PokéStops or arenas there for you to battle for supremacy.
