In the Mega Raids of Pokémon Go, several new bosses have been added with the Mega Evolutions, which you can rarely play solo. One of these bosses is Mega Glurak Y. We have a counter-guide to Mega Glurak Y in Pokémon Go to help you defeat the Pokémon with flying colors.

Original news from September 1, 2020: Pokémon Go’s Mega Raids, which are comparable in difficulty to Tier 5 Raids, currently feature the second evolutions of Bisasam, Schiggy, and Glumanda – Mega Bisaflor, Mega Turtok, and Mega Glurak X, as well as Mega Glurak Y. Especially with the last two iconic pocket monsters, there are some details to keep in mind when challenging them as raid bosses. While Mega Glurak Y is a Fire and Flight Pokémon, Mega Glurak X is a Fire and Dragon Pokémon. That’s why you shouldn’t go into battle with the same fighters.

To find out which counters are recommended for Glurak’s Mega Brother, check out the Mega Glurak X Counter Guide. Here we go with the guide to Mega-Glurak Y. You really want to make Glurak Mega Glurak Y because it’s a very potent fire attacker. One more note before we get to the counters: If you won the battle, you won’t catch Mega-Glurak Y during the bonus challenge, you’ll just catch Glurak! That’s why the last section of the guide refers to Glurak and not its Mega Evolution.

Pokémon Go: Mega Glurak Y as a raid boss.

Unlike Mega Glurak X, this Mega evolution doesn’t change type, so it stays with Fire and Flight compared to a normal Glurak. However, Mega-Glurak Y has a whopping 61,631 CP, which you’ll have to beat down first. Mega Glurak Y has a double weakness to rock type attacks due to its types, which you definitely want to take advantage of. If you have the perfect counters at hand, then you can defeat the pocket monster with two trainers. If you want to be sure, it’s better to take three to five trainers with you in the raid.

If the weather is sunny, be aware that Mega-Glurak Y’s possible attacks Fire Whirl, Fire Storm, and Heat Fury will cause more damage. Regardless of the prevailing weather conditions, you should still lean towards rock attackers to clip Mega-Glurak Y’s wings. The following counter Pokémon are recommended:

  • Rihornior with catapult and rock throwing
  • Despotar with catapult and stone edge
  • Rameidon with catapult and hail of stones
  • Terrakium with catapult and hail of stones
  • Brockoloss with catapult and hail of stones
  • Aerodactyl with stone throw and stone hail
  • Amoroso with stone throw and stone hail
  • Demeteros with stone throw and stone hail
  • Geowaz with stone throw and stone edge
  • Mega Turtok with aqua gun and aqua howitzer
  • Lunastein with stone throw and stone hail
  • Sonnfel with stone throw and stone hail
  • Stolloss with catapult and stone edge

Pokémon Go: Catch Mega Glurak Y

As mentioned above, you will not catch Mega Glurak Y after a victory, but a normal Glurak. If you have successfully completed the battle against Mega-Glurak Y, the freestyle follows after the duty and you have the chance to banish the pocket monster into your Pokéball. Then Glurak has 1,651 CP at level 20 with 100% IV values. If Glurak is boosted to level 25 in sunny or windy weather, it will have 2,064 CP at perfect 100% IV values. We wish you good luck in your hunt!

Latest counters for Mega Glurak Y

Update from March 30, 2022: Mega-Glurak Y has been unleashed again in Pokémon Go, and because the Mega-Pokémon is an absolute hit for many raid bosses in Pokémon Go, we have the best counters for raid battles in March 2022 for you. With these, you should have no problems taking advantage of Mega-Glurak Y’s double rock weakness.

  • Mega aerodactyl with stone throwing and stone hailing
  • Crypto-Despotar with catapult and stone edge

Pokémon GO

Pokémon Go is the mobile spin-off of Nintendo’s popular Pokémon game series for Android and iOS. It is a so-called “location-based game”, i.e. a game that uses the player’s immediate surroundings. It is based on the principle of augmented reality.

Pokémon Map: Between landmarks and sights

Pokémon Go uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine the player’s location and displays it on a map that also represents the playing field. The map is based on OpenStreetMap maps. The game is played mostly outdoors and uses landmarks, landmarks and other notable or eye-catching objects in the world to position either PokéStops or arenas there for you to battle for supremacy. Join either Team Intuition (Team Yellow, Zapdos), Team Wisdom (Team Blue, Arktos), or Team Daring (Team Red, Lavados). Under their flag you can then fight for the arenas, which are placed at hotspots like churches or similar. Pokémon can appear anywhere, though.

Pocket monsters visible on the Pokémon Go Map are randomly loaded into the game’s virtual map by the game server. If several players are playing in the same location, each player can see and catch the Pokémon independently of the others.

Pokémon Go Updates, News, Raids and More

The developers at Niantic regularly provide Pokémon Go with new updates or special raids that should only be tackled in a group of several people. The Pokémon Go Raids are therefore very popular, as they also offer the prospect of particularly rare Pokémon. For example, in the past, legendary Pokémon could always be caught on special occasions (Pokémon Go events). For particularly eager mobile or smartphone Pokémon trainers, there is also an external IV calculator, such as the online tool from Pokemon.gameinfo.io or on Pokefans.net, to check the values of your Pokémon.
