PoGO – Pokémon Go: Regice as Raid Boss - Counter Guide

Regice, the icy golem of the trio of giants, is returning to Pokémon Go’s Tier 5 Raids for a short time. To help you stand up to the frosty giant, we’ve updated our counter guide to Regice in Pokémon Go.

Update as of November 26, 2021: As part of a special Legendary Raid Hour for the Unleashed Mischief event, Regice will spawn alongside Regirock and Registeel in the Tier 5 Raids on November 28, 2021 between 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM. Original news from June 23, 2018: When the legendary Pokémon Kygore says goodbye to Pokémon GO’s Raids today, June 21, 2018, it will be time for the next round of legendary pocket monsters. The community is currently assuming that the three Pokémon Registeel, Regirock and Regice will be brought into the game by Niantic either at the same time or one after the other.

Regice is an ice-only Pokémon with 42,768 Raid Boss CP. You can encounter Regice in Tier 5 Raids, which usually require a team of four to six trainers. However, with the right preparation, you can defeat Regice with three players. If you catch Regice, it has a maximum of 1,784 CP without a weather boost at level 20, and a maximum of 2,230 CP with snow at level 25. In the raid, Regice can have the following combat, ice, and ground attacks:

Shatterer (Combat, Instant Attack)
Ice Death (Ice, Instant Attack)
Focus Blast (Combat, Charge Attack)
Blizzard (Ice, Charge Attack)
Earthquake (Ground, Charge Attack)

You need to be especially careful of Focus Blast and Earthquake. If you rely on Fire Pokémon for your counter team, they can take heavy damage from both attacks – Earthquake in particular can cause one-hit KOs on Pokémon like Flamara or Lohgock. You should also be careful when facing a Regice with Shatter and Earthquake, which can also quickly knock your Fire Pokémon off its feet. On the other hand, you’ll have the easiest time when facing a Regice with Ice Odo and Blizzard, because Ice attacks cause less damage to your Fire Pokémon than normal, so you’ll need to use far fewer potions and resurrections.

But let’s get to the core of your tactics against Regice, the counter Pokémon and their attacks. The best chances against Regice are with Pokémon of the type Fire, Battle or a combination of both, including the corresponding attacks. Therefore, you should use the following Pokémon to win the raid against Regice:

Metagross with cartridge punch and star punch
Lavados with firewhirl and heatwhirl
Glurak with fire whirl and lohe cannonade
Entei with firewhirl and heatwhirl
Machomei with counterattack and balancing blow
Skaraborn with counter and close combat
Hariyama with counterattack and punch
Ho-Oh with steel wing and firestorm
Flamara with firewhirl and heatwhirl
Heatran with fire whirl and fire storm
Tornupto with blaze and lohe cannonade
Magbrant with Fire Whirl and Fire Storm
Arkani with Fire Fang and Flame Throw

If you want to optimize your chances against Regice, also consider the following tips:

Regice will be stronger in snow, however your Fire attacks will do more damage in sunny weather. On the other hand, if it’s windy, it’s best to have Battle Pokémon on your team.
Don’t use Pokémon that take effective double damage from Regice’s attacks.
Regice with Ice Doom and Blizzard does less damage to Fire Pokémon. So use the latter preferentially if Regice has the aforementioned attacks.

Pokémon Go is the mobile spin-off of Nintendo’s popular Pokémon game series for Android and iOS. It is a so-called “location-based game”, i.e. a game that uses the player’s immediate surroundings. It is based on the principle of augmented reality.

Pokémon Map: Between landmarks and sights

Pokémon Go uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine the player’s location and displays it on a map that also represents the playing field. The map is based on OpenStreetMap maps. The game is played mostly outdoors and uses landmarks, landmarks and other notable or eye-catching objects in the world to position either PokéStops or arenas there for you to battle for supremacy. Join either Team Intuition (Team Yellow, Zapdos), Team Wisdom (Team Blue, Arktos), or Team Daring (Team Red, Lavados).
