During the Valentine’s Day event in Pokémon GO – that is, until February 21, 2019 – you can encounter the Normal Pokémon Chaneira in Tier 3 Raids. With the right preparation, you’ll have the chance to take on Chaneira solo. We’ll tell you exactly what you need to do in our guide.

Until February 21, 2019 at 10 p.m. German time, the normal Pokémon Chaneira is waiting for you in the Tier 3 Raids of Pokémon GO during the Valentine’s Day event. If you want to secure the massive Pokémon with its massive stamina values yourself, but do not have a suitable raid group, you can also take on Chaneira alone. Based on an article from Pokemongohub, we’ll now explain how to prepare for the battle and which counter Pokémon should definitely be part of your team.

Pokémon GO: Riding Chaneira solo – General Information

The main reason why you can face Chaneira solo and should definitely secure this Pokémon for your collection is due to Chaneira’s stats:

  • Raid Boss CP: 5,381
  • Catch CP at level 20: 654-717 CP
  • Weather Boost (partly cloudy) at level 25: 817-896 CP
  • 60 attack, 128 defense, 487 stamina and 1,255 max CP

In keeping with these stats, and especially its high stamina, Chaneira is a popular candidate for defending Pokémon arenas. However, because it has poor attack and defensive stats, you can easily defeat this Pokémon solo in Tier 3 Raids – the battle just takes a little longer, but Chaneira does not pose a serious threat to your counter Pokémon.

Raid against Chaneira – Chaneira’s attacks

Chaneira can use the following attacks:

  • Zen Headbutt (Psycho) and Pound (Normal).
  • Hyper Beam (Normal), Psychokinesis (Psycho) and Spell Glow (Fairy)

The combination of Hyper Beam and Pound will make your fight against Chaneira the easiest of all potential movesets. On the other hand, you will have the most trouble with the combination of Zen Headbutt and Psychokinesis or Spell Glow, because they can give your Fighting-type counter Pokémon a run for their money.

Raid against Chaneira – Weather Boosts

In the battle against Chaneira, you need to pay attention to the following weather boosts:

  • Windy weather: boost to Chaneira’s Psycho attacks.
  • Partly Cloudy Weather: You have a chance to get a level 25 Chaneira. In addition, Chaneira’s Normal attacks receive a boost.
  • Cloudy Weather: Your Battle Pokémon’s attacks get a boost, as does Chaneira’s Fairy attack Spell Glow.

If you want to solo against Chaneira, it’s best to rely on the following counter Pokémon:

  • Machomei (Battle type) with Counter (Battle type) and Blast (Battle type).
  • Kapilz (Plant/Combat type) with Counter (Combat type) and Blast (Combat type)
  • Lohgock (Type Fire/Combat) with Counter (Type Combat) and Focus Strike (Type Combat)
  • Lucario (Steel/Combat type) with Counter (Combat) and Close Combat (Combat type)
  • Hariyama (type Combat) with Counter (Combat) and Blast (type Combat)
  • Skaraborn (Type Beetle/Combat) with Counter (Type Combat) and Melee (Type Combat)

If all these Pokémon are not available for the fight against Chaneira, you can alternatively use one of the following Pokémon – but then the duration of the fight will be significantly longer:

  • Mewtu (type Psycho) with Psycho Blade (type Psycho) and Focus Blast (type Battle)
  • Simsala (type Psycho) with Confusion/Psycho Blade (type Psycho) and Focus Strike (type Combat)
  • Toxiquak (Poison/Combat type) with Counter (Combat type) and Blast (Combat type)
  • Galagladi (type Psycho/Combat) with Foot Kick (type Combat) and Close Combat (type Combat)
  • Rasaff (type Combat) with Counter (type Combat) and Close Combat (type Combat)
  • Ursaring (Normal type) with Counter (Combat type) and Close Combat (Combat type)
  • Deoxys Attack Form (type Psycho) with Zen Headbutt (type Psycho) and Lightning Cannon (type Electro)
  • Kicklee (Combat type) with Smash (Combat type) and Melee (Combat type)

We hope that these tips will help you in your solo battle against Chaneira. As usual, you can read more news and tips about Niantic’s mobile app on our Pokémon GO topic page.

Pokémon GO

Pokémon Go is the mobile spin-off of Nintendo’s popular Pokémon game series for Android and iOS. It is a so-called “location-based game”, i.e. a game that uses the player’s immediate surroundings. It is based on the principle of augmented reality.

Pokémon Map: Between landmarks and sights

Pokémon Go uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine the player’s location and displays it on a map that also represents the playing field. The map is based on OpenStreetMap maps. The game is played mostly outdoors and uses landmarks, landmarks and other notable or eye-catching objects in the world to position either PokéStops or arenas there for you to battle for supremacy. Join either Team Intuition (Team Yellow, Zapdos), Team Wisdom (Team Blue, Arktos), or Team Daring (Team Red, Lavados). Under their flag you can then fight for the arenas, which are placed at hotspots like churches or similar. Pokémon can appear anywhere, though.

Pocket monsters visible on the Pokémon Go Map are randomly loaded into the game’s virtual map by the game server. If several players are playing in the same location, each player can see and catch the Pokémon independently of the others.

Pokémon Go Updates, News, Raids and More

The developers at Niantic regularly provide Pokémon Go with new updates or special raids that should only be tackled in a group of several people. The Pokémon Go Raids are therefore very popular, as they also offer the prospect of particularly rare Pokémon. For example, in the past, legendary Pokémon could always be caught on special occasions (Pokémon Go events). For particularly eager mobile or smartphone Pokémon trainers, there is also an external IV calculator, such as the online tool from Pokemon.gameinfo.io or on Pokefans.net, to check the values of your Pokémon.
