The Spring Event is just around the corner in Pokémon Go and will surprise you not only with a Mega Schlapor, but also with a new Collector’s Challenge and the Arena Defender Powerhouses Chaneira and Heiteira. In addition, if you’re lucky, you’ll catch a Shiny Scoppel. We’ll tell you everything you need to know in our guide to the Spring 2021 event in Pokémon Go.
Starting April 4, 2021 at 10:00 a.m., Pokémon Go will celebrate the Spring Event. Not only does it feature an increased spawn rate of springtime and Easter Pokémon, but it also brings the new Mega Pokémon Mega Schlapor and a new, time-limited Collector’s Challenge. The latter will earn you experience points and a free lucky egg, among other things. You can also look forward to the chance to capture Shiny Scoppel in your Pokéball, as the iridescent is making a new appearance in Pokémon Go with this event.
And then there are incentives for those who like to go outside and enjoy the spring weather: You’ll get double the amount of hatching candies, and eggs placed in an egg incubator during the event will hatch twice as fast – below is a quick chart that shows you how the walking distances needed to hatch change.

- The Spring 2021 event in Pokémon Go will start on April 4, 2021 at 10:00 am and end on April 8, 2021 at 8:00 pm.
- Among others, these Pokémon will appear more often in the wild: Pikachu with flower wreath, Owei, Marill, Plusle, Minun, Haspiror and Scoppel. If you’re lucky, you’ll even see an iridescent Scoppel hopping towards you!
- Chaneira with Flower Wreath appears in the wild, while Wonneira with Flower Wreath hatches from eggs. If you develop a Chaneira with Flower Wreath, Heiteira will also wear this pretty accessory! If you’re lucky, you might even encounter an Iridescent Chaneira or Wonneira!
- Crypto-Owei is more commonly used by Team GO Rocket.
These Pokémon hatch more often from 2-km eggs: Owei, Evoli with Flower Wreath, Pichu with Flower Wreath, Togepi, Azurill, Haspiror, Wonneira with Flower Wreath, Mampfaxo, Geronimatz, and Scoppel. - Mega Schlapor appears in Mega Raids for the first time in Pokémon GO! Other Pokémon that love spring also appear in Raid battles. Mega-Slapor style items are also available in the store.
- During the event, you’ll receive exclusive spring-themed stickers from PokéStops and from giveaways – collect as many as you can while they’re available!
- You can encounter Pokémon like Azumarill and Geronimatz during exclusive field research projects!
- If you complete the Collector’s Challenge for this Spring Event, you’ll receive a Lucky Egg, Mega Energy for Schlapor, and XP. You can track your progress on the Today View.
- Double Hatching Candy
- Lucky eggs remain active for a full hour.
- Eggs placed in an egg incubator during the event will hatch twice as fast.
Collector’s Challenge for the Spring Event 2021
It is not yet known which Mon you will need to catch to complete the Collector’s Challenge (emphasis on catch!). But it is likely that Haspiror, Scoppel, Chaneira, Owei, Marill, Plusle, Minun, and perhaps Pikachu will be required for completion. As soon as there is the official information about it, we will add it here. Update as of April 4, 2021: You’ll need to catch the following Pokémon for the Collector’s Challenge to grab 1 x Lucky Egg, 50 x Mega Energies for Schlapor, and 2,500 XP:
- Owei
- Crypto-Owei
- Haspiror
- Scoppel
- Plusle
- Minun
- Pikachu with flower wreath
- Azumarill
- Chaneira with flower wreath
- Furthermore you have to evolve a Scoppel into a Grebbit!
Pokémon GO
Pokémon Go is the mobile spin-off of Nintendo’s popular Pokémon game series for Android and iOS. It is a so-called “location-based game”, i.e. a game that uses the player’s immediate surroundings. It is based on the principle of augmented reality.
Pokémon Map: Between landmarks and sights
Pokémon Go uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine the player’s location and displays it on a map that also represents the playing field. The map is based on OpenStreetMap maps. The game is played mostly outdoors and uses landmarks, landmarks and other notable or eye-catching objects in the world to position either PokéStops or arenas there for you to battle for supremacy. Join either Team Intuition (Team Yellow, Zapdos), Team Wisdom (Team Blue, Arktos), or Team Daring (Team Red, Lavados). Under their flag you can then fight for the arenas, which are placed at hotspots like churches or similar. Pokémon can appear anywhere, though.
Pocket monsters visible on the Pokémon Go Map are randomly loaded into the game’s virtual map by the game server. If several players are playing in the same location, each player can see and catch the Pokémon independently of the others.
Pokémon Go Updates, News, Raids and More
The developers at Niantic regularly provide Pokémon Go with new updates or special raids that should only be tackled in a group of several people. The Pokémon Go Raids are therefore very popular, as they also offer the prospect of particularly rare Pokémon. For example, in the past, legendary Pokémon could always be caught on special occasions (Pokémon Go events). For particularly eager mobile or smartphone Pokémon trainers, there is also an external IV calculator, such as the online tool from Pokemon.gameinfo.io or on Pokefans.net, to check the values of your Pokémon.
