PoGO – Pokémon GO: Stardust - collect, save, invest efficiently

In Pokémon Go, stardust is one of the resources that is somehow always lacking. You need the stuff to teach Pokémon second charge attacks and to upgrade your Pokémon. The writers at Pokémon Go Hub give you tips on how to get the most out of your stardust so you’re not constantly short of it.

One of the rarest resources in Pokémon Go, but one that in theory you could collect for free without end, is stardust. Before the introduction of the second charging attack for Pokémon, stardust wasn’t necessarily the problem; most trainers had collected the stuff in abundance in the months and years prior. It’s only since the implementation of this “Money Sink,” however, that trainers have been embarrassed by the lack of stardust at every turn. The authors of Pokémon Go Hub have collected some useful tips on how to not only maximize your stardust yield, but also on how to invest your riches conservatively. We have translated some of the interesting tips for you.

Maximize your stardust earnings

There are a few ways to improve your stardust earnings, if you only know when collecting in particular is worthwhile. For example, on a Community Day! Trainers who go out on a Community Day and focus solely on catching can capture up to 100 Pocket Monsters per hour – especially if they’ve also stacked more Pocket Monsters via Field Research for dry spells during the Pokémon Hunt.

Over the course of a three-hour Community Day and with the help of Star Pieces, you can bag up to 45,000 stardust. These considerations don’t even include weather boosted or first or second evolution Pokémon. By the way, weather-boosted pocket monsters bring an extra 25 stardust.

Also, get the most out of stardust events, as Community Day can also be affected. Because every now and then, the developers of Pokémon Go then grant you three times the amount of stardust per Pokémon caught. This in turn means that over 130,000 stardust are possible in the three hours of Community Day, if you use star pieces and focus purely on farming the precious dust. Also, keep an eye out for other events where stardust earnings are buffed.

Of course, there are other small sources of stardust income: Raids, for example, will earn you dust, as will field research and trainer and team leader battles. Hatching eggs is worthwhile, and you can also get stardust from the gifts of other trainers. So you can collect around 15,000+ extra stardust a day if you also don’t want to buy large amounts of stardust pieces in the store. Be conservative with your Star Pieces anyway and only use them when you are effectively filling the 30 minute run time. Since you can’t buy Star Pieces individually in the Pokémon Go Shop, you’ll always have to rely on box sales.

Minimize your stardust expenditure

Before you teach a Pokémon a second attack, or even just boost it to a higher level, you should make sure that the pocket monster’s IV stats are correct and that you need the Pokémon right now – either for the arenas, the raids, or for the PvP battles you’re about to engage in. You can always upgrade the mon later if you don’t need it right now, because it won’t run away from you.

Speaking of IV, just because a Pokémon has high or perfect IV doesn’t mean it’s worth pumping all your stardust into that mon, just…. just because. It’s more efficient, according to the creators of Pokémon Go Hub, to find the weather-boosted version of your counter Pokémon because it’s already at level 31 to 35 by then, and then evolve that to have, say, a meaningful counter in your pocket for a particular raid boss – compared to how it could cost you several 100,000 stardust to throw stardust at the same mon just because it’s hatched and the IV value is a little higher.

It’s rarely worth it at all to get a Pokémon higher than level 30. From level 30 to level 40, a mon gains only 10 percent more strength, which bears no relation at all to the horrendous amounts of stardust and candy invested. Leveling a Mon to level 40 will only benefit you with those that are truly very flexible and universal. Also, keep in mind that lucky Pokémon only need half the amount of stardust to level. In addition, Lucky Pokémon swapped generally have good IV values, so you’ll never go wrong choosing a Lucky Pokémon over a regular one. However, think carefully about which Pokémon you swap with a Lucky Friend. It’s better not to take a Taubsi, but rather a Legendary that might have bad stats anyway. As mentioned, swapped Lucky Pokémon have at least 11/11/11 stats, so you can turn a loser into a winner!

Also, think carefully about whether the second attack of a pocket monster is really worth the investment of the stardust, for example, because the attack is of a different type; one that can be used more often. Also, keep the following in mind: Does the Pokémon you want to teach a second move have another evolution? Then teach the mon the second attack before you evolve it! Pokémon Go is the mobile spin-off of Nintendo’s popular Pokémon game series for Android and iOS. It is a so-called “location-based game”, i.e. a game that uses the player’s immediate surroundings. It is based on the principle of augmented reality.

Pokémon Map: Between landmarks and sights

Pokémon Go uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine the player’s location and displays it on a map that also represents the playing field. The map is based on OpenStreetMap maps.
