PoGO – Pokémon GO: The right counter Pokémon for every battle – a question of type

394 pocket monsters are now roaming the augmented reality of Pokémon GO – but which one is the right one for the next raid or arena battle? An overview of type effectiveness and double weaknesses will help you find the best counter Pokémon.

If you want to knock out raid bosses by the dozen in Pokémon GO, you need not only a few willing comrades-in-arms and a merciful weather god, but above all the right counter Pokémon. Whether and how well a pocket monster is suited for an upcoming battle depends primarily on two factors: Which attack types your Pokémon is capable of and which Pokémon type the Raid boss belongs to. While die-hard fans of the franchise can probably recite in their sleep that flying attacks wreak havoc in duels with Battle, Beetle, or Plant Pokémon, but are no match for Rock, Steel, and Electro Mon, ordinary trainers can easily lose track of this. To help you keep track of your battle team, our table shows you which attacks are particularly effective against which Pokémon types.

Pokémon GO: Type Effectiveness – Table

Very effective attacks do 1.4 times their usual damage, while not very effective attacks do only 0.71 times. If a Pokémon is immune to a certain attack type, the damage even shrinks to 0.51 times. Combinations not listed in the table deal normal damage.

Type Effectiveness is a good starting point for building your battle team, but it won’t always get you the best counter Pokémon on its own. Pokémon with Double Weakness

Pokémon with double weaknesses are a special case in terms of type effectiveness: Many pocket monsters belong to two Pokémon types at once – Glurak, for example, is a flying and fire monster in one. If an attack is very effective against both types, the damage increases to 1.96 times (1.4 x 1.4). Glurak’s Kryptonite is therefore rock attacks. So, if you have a Pokémon with Double Weakness in front of you, take advantage of it whenever possible. Pocket monsters with double weakness in the overview:

Pokémon GO

Pokémon Go is the mobile spin-off of Nintendo’s popular Pokémon game series for Android and iOS. It is a so-called “location-based game”, i.e. a game that uses the player’s immediate surroundings. It is based on the principle of augmented reality.

Pokémon Map: Between landmarks and sights

Pokémon Go uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine the player’s location and displays it on a map that also represents the playing field. The map is based on OpenStreetMap maps. The game is played mostly outdoors and uses landmarks, landmarks and other notable or eye-catching objects in the world to position either PokéStops or arenas there for you to battle for supremacy. Join either Team Intuition (Team Yellow, Zapdos), Team Wisdom (Team Blue, Arktos), or Team Daring (Team Red, Lavados). Under their flag you can then fight for the arenas, which are placed at hotspots like churches or similar. Pokémon can appear anywhere, though.

Pocket monsters visible on the Pokémon Go Map are randomly loaded into the game’s virtual map by the game server. If several players are playing in the same location, each player can see and catch the Pokémon independently of the others.

Pokémon Go Updates, News, Raids and More

The developers at Niantic regularly provide Pokémon Go with new updates or special raids that should only be tackled in a group of several people. The Pokémon Go Raids are therefore very popular, as they also offer the prospect of particularly rare Pokémon. For example, in the past, legendary Pokémon could always be caught on special occasions (Pokémon Go events).
