With the Christmas update for Pokémon Go, the developers at Niantic have put baby Pokémon like Togepi, Fluffeluff and Pichu from the 2nd generation into the hatchable eggs. But there are more 2nd generation Pokémon in Go – namely via evolutions!
The holiday – Season has arrived in Pokémon Go, which can be seen, for example, by the fact that you will now occasionally run into a time-limited Pikachu wearing a festive little hat. Furthermore, some Generation 2 Pokémon – namely the eight baby Pokémon Pichu, Fluffeluff, Pii, Togepi, Elekid, Rabauz, Magby and Kussilla – can be found in hatched eggs that you got from a PokéStop after the start of the event on December 12. But that’s not all!
For one thing, some of the new baby Pokémon have a Gen 2 evolution, and for another, 2nd generation evolutions have also become available for some of the 1st generation Pocket Monsters. Below, we want to give you an overview of pre-evolutions and evolutions that are currently available. Keep in mind, however, that the information may not be correct for all. We discovered that the evolution of the Gen 1 Pokémon Flegmon is available in our Pokémon Go app, but not the one for Golbat to Iksbat.
Pokémon Go: Gen 2 Pre-Evolutions
Pre-evolution is the term we use to describe the original version of a Pokémon that wasn’t in the game before. For example, Pikachu is not the original form of Elektronager, but Pichu, which you can find in the new eggs. However, Pichu wasn’t introduced to Pokémon until Generation 2, and accordingly, he didn’t exist in the Gen 1 version of Pokémon Go – that’s why he’s a pre-evolution. The following pre-evolutions came into the game with Pokémon Go’s Christmas update. Pokémon marked in bold indicate that they belong to Generation 2 and are therefore new to the game.

Gen 2 evolutions are evolutions of Pokémon from Generation 1 that were not previously available in Pokémon Go. We have highlighted in bold the evolutions that we also have access to recently. It is reported that the Gen 2 evolutions that are not marked in bold are also available, but we do not have proof of this.

Pokémon GO
Pokémon Go is the mobile spin-off of Nintendo’s popular Pokémon game series for Android and iOS. It is a so-called “location-based game”, i.e. a game that uses the player’s immediate surroundings. It is based on the principle of augmented reality.
Pokémon Map: Between landmarks and sights
Pokémon Go uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine the player’s location and displays it on a map that also represents the playing field. The map is based on OpenStreetMap maps. The game is played mostly outdoors and uses landmarks, landmarks and other notable or eye-catching objects in the world to position either PokéStops or arenas there for you to battle for supremacy. Join either Team Intuition (Team Yellow, Zapdos), Team Wisdom (Team Blue, Arktos), or Team Daring (Team Red, Lavados). Under their flag you can then fight for the arenas, which are placed at hotspots like churches or similar. Pokémon can appear anywhere, though.
Pocket monsters visible on the Pokémon Go Map are randomly loaded into the game’s virtual map by the game server. If several players are playing in the same location, each player can see and catch the Pokémon independently of the others.
Pokémon Go Updates, News, Raids and More
The developers at Niantic regularly provide Pokémon Go with new updates or special raids that should only be tackled in a group of several people. The Pokémon Go Raids are therefore very popular, as they also offer the prospect of particularly rare Pokémon. For example, in the past, legendary Pokémon could always be caught on special occasions (Pokémon Go events). For particularly eager mobile or smartphone Pokémon trainers, there is also an external IV calculator, such as the online tool from Pokemon.gameinfo.io or on Pokefans.net, to check the values of your Pokémon.
