Niantic has come up with something very special for the Community Day in December: All Pokémon available in 2018 and 2019 during the past Community Days will appear again in increased numbers. We explain which of these Pokémon and their evolutions you should not miss.

Pokémon GO fans can expect a special highlight shortly before Christmas: because Niantic is giving us the opportunity to encounter all Pokémon from the Community Days of 2018 and 2019 increased again on December 14 and 15, 2019 and evolve them for special attacks. But since there are a lot of different Pokémon involved, we’ve put together a priority list for you, based on an article from Pokemongohub, that tells you which Mon you should evolve for which purpose – and which might not need to be at the top of your list.

Priority list for raids and arenas

If your focus in Pokémon GO is primarily on PvE battles, your priority list for December’s Community Day looks like this:

  • Metagross with Star Strike (highest priority): Legendary Pokémon of the sixth and seventh generations have weak points against Steel Pokémon. Metagross is therefore the ideal counter for upcoming Raids.
  • Bisaflor with Flora Statue (High Priority): Bisalfor with Flora Statue is only behind Roserade in terms of DPS on plant Pokémon and scores especially well in battles against Grou don or Kyogre.
  • Despotar with Catapult (high priority): Despotar is one of the highest DPS Rock Pokémon in the game and scores well as a counter in upcoming Generation 5 Raids.
  • Sumpex with Aqua Howitzer (High Priority): Sumpex ranks second in Water DPS and is suitable as a complement in teams with upcoming Generation 5 Legendary Pokémon.
  • Lohgock with Lohe Cannonade (Medium Priority): Lohgock continues to work well as a glass cannon in Battle Fairies against Registeel and Regice.
  • Brutalanda with Tantrum (Medium Priority): Brutalanda draws the short end of the stick in combat power against Zekrom and Kyurem, but is still good as an attacker, especially for new players.
  • Gewaldro with Flora Statue (Medium Priority): Gewaldro has to take a back seat to Bisaflor, but is still suitable as a plant Pokémon for Raids in terms of DPS.
  • Impergator with Aqua Howitzer (medium priority): Similar to Gewaldro in relation to Bisaflor, Impergator is suitable as a weaker alternative to Sumpex.
  • Chelterrar with Flora Statue (medium priority): Chelterrar has the advantage of being able to take a lot of damage while still dealing out decent amounts. With its double type, it is also resistant to ground attacks – the only plant Pokémon in Pokémon GO.
  • Glurak with Lohe Cannonade (Medium Priority): Glurak works as a solid fire attacker, but is overall inferior to Lohgock.

All other Pokémon work better without Community Day attacks:

  • Guardevoir with Synchro Noise: Guardevoir’s strengths in PvE lie primarily in this Pokémon’s Fairy attacks. Because Synchro Noise is a Psycho attack, the Community Day evolution is not worth it for Synchro Noise alone if you want to use Guardevoir for Raids.
  • Mamutel with Ancient Power: Mamutel works great as a counter Pokémon in Raids against Boreos, Voltolos, and Demeteros – but only without the Ancient Power attack, which turns out to be useless here.
  • Dragoran with Draco Meteor: Dragoran can be used as a counter in Raids, but it needs the Attack Rage instead of Draco Meteor.
  • Panfero with Lohe Cannonade: Don’t worry about Panfero during Community Day – this Pokémon works like Glurak, but compares much worse.
  • Galagladi with Synchro Noise: Galagladi resembles Guardevoir, but is one of the significantly weaker attackers – hands off!

Priority list for player vs. player

If you want to primarily engage in PvP combat with your Pokémon, prioritize the following Pokémon at Community Day in December:

  • Sumpex with Aqua Howitzer (highest priority): Sumpex works in any league, mainly due to Aquahaubitze. Aqua Howitzer is energy efficient and quick to use. Combining Aqua Howitzer with Clay Shot, you can destroy the shields of enemy Pokémon in no time.
  • Bisaflor with Flora Statue (highest priority): Because of Sumpex’s popularity in PvP, Bisaflor makes an excellent counter against the Water Pokémon and other Plant-types. In addition, Flora Statue charges up quickly and is ready to go accordingly.
  • Nachtara with Refuge (highest priority): Nachtara scores high in Super League because it not only deals damage but can also take it, making up for weaknesses against Battle Pokémon extremely well. The neutral attack Refuge is also suitable against various Pokémon types.
  • Turtok with Aqua Howitzer (high priority): Turtok has good defense and deals out decently with Aqua Howitzer. Ice Beam also keeps Plant Pokémon at bay.
  • Glurak with Lohe Cannonade (High Priority): Glurak combines both speed and damage in its Lohekanonade attack, and scores especially well against the Super League’s many Steel Pokémon.
  • Meganie with Flora Statue (high priority): Meganie is especially useful against ground Pokémon thanks to strong defense and earthquakes. Flora Statue is also one of the strongest plant attacks in the game.
  • Guardevoir with Synchro Noise (High Priority): High attack values make Guardevoir a Pokémon that stands out in the higher PvP leagues with solid performance. If the conditions in the meta are right, you will skillfully counter the shields of enemy Pokémon with Synchro Noise.
  • Despotar with Catapult (Medium Priority): Despotar is best suited for battles in deere Master League against Pokémon like Giratina, Mewtu, and Lugia.
  • Metagross with Star Slash (Medium Priority): Steel Pokémon dominate the Master League and Metagross is no exception. However, players should be wary of Guardevoir.
  • Aquana with Refuge (Medium Priority): Aquana can excel as a Water Pokémon under ideal conditions, but fails in open PvP battles.
  • Lohgock with Lohekanonade (medium priority): Lohekanonande adds a very good DPS attack to Lohgock’s movepool, which is suitable as an alternative to Fire Sweep.

The rest of the Pokémon do better in PvP without the community day moves:

  • Gewaldro is weaker than Bisaflor and Meganie, but with Zornklinge it can be quite convincing in PvP.
  • Tornupto mainly needs Fire counters against Plant and Steel Pokémon in PvP – but with Dark Claw it lacks a Fire attack.
  • Glaziola will get the Refuge attack for the first time in December, so it’s still unclear how much good this attack is for Glaziola in PvP. However, the current alternative, Ice Shard, is doing very well, so it will be difficult to outperform this attack with Refuge.

  • Folipurba, like Glaziola, will also receive Refuge for the first time in December 2019. It also remains to be seen how well the attack will perform in PvP, where Folipurba currently lags well behind top performers like Bisaflor.

A number of Pokémon are also better suited for PvP if you don’t finish evolving them:

  • Muntier is one of the best PvP attackers in Super League with Counter and Bodyslam.
  • Galagladi works great in all leagues without Synchro Noise and performs best in Hyper League against Water and Steel Pokémon with Confusion and Leaf Blade attacks.Confusion also knocks out Battle Pokémon quickly.
  • Dragonir is better suited for PvP battles than Dragoran in Super League, mainly due to Fire Ember combined with a Water Charge attack.
  • Chelcarain performs a good attack in PvP with Body Slam, which costs little energy.
  • Lorblatt has one of the best plant counters in PvP with Antique Power.
  • Draschel lags behind Altaria, but is a good alternative in leagues where Altaria is not allowed.

By the way, you can read which Pokémon you’ll find when in our separate article about the December Community Day. We already wish you good luck!

Pokémon GO

Pokémon Go is the mobile spin-off of Nintendo’s popular Pokémon game series for Android and iOS. It is a so-called “location-based game”, i.e. a game that uses the player’s immediate surroundings. It is based on the principle of augmented reality.

Pokémon Map: Between landmarks and sights

Pokémon Go uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine the player’s location and displays it on a map that also represents the playing field. The map is based on OpenStreetMap maps. The game is played mostly outdoors and uses landmarks, landmarks and other notable or eye-catching objects in the world to position either PokéStops or arenas there for you to battle for supremacy. Join either Team Intuition (Team Yellow, Zapdos), Team Wisdom (Team Blue, Arktos), or Team Daring (Team Red, Lavados). Under their flag you can then fight for the arenas, which are placed at hotspots like churches or similar. Pokémon can appear anywhere, though.

Pocket monsters visible on the Pokémon Go Map are randomly loaded into the game’s virtual map by the game server. If several players are playing in the same location, each player can see and catch the Pokémon independently of the others.

Pokémon Go Updates, News, Raids and More

The developers at Niantic regularly provide Pokémon Go with new updates or special raids that should only be tackled in a group of several people. The Pokémon Go Raids are therefore very popular, as they also offer the prospect of particularly rare Pokémon. For example, in the past, legendary Pokémon could always be caught on special occasions (Pokémon Go events). For particularly eager mobile or smartphone Pokémon trainers, there is also an external IV calculator, such as the online tool from Pokemon.gameinfo.io or on Pokefans.net, to check the values of your Pokémon.
