In the Tier 4 Raids of Pokémon GO, trainers can currently take on the ground Pokémon Knogga. We explain in our guide what you need to consider in the fight against Knogga and with which counter Pokémon you are on the safe side.
If you are currently in the Pokémon GO raids, you will encounter the ground Pokémon Knogga on level four. As an old acquaintance from the classic Pokémon of the first generation, Knogga unfortunately has little relevance for the Pokémon GO meta – it has too poor stats and attacks for that. However, if you’re up for a challenge, you can take on Knogga in a team with another trainer and flex the muscles of your own Pokémon. Pokémon GO: Tier 4 Raid Knogga – General Information
As mentioned, Knogga is a Pokémon of the Ground type. As a raid boss, it has a CP value of 21385. Without a weather boost, you can catch it with 988-1,048 CP at level 20, and with a weather boost in sunny weather, you can catch it with 1,235-1,311 CP at level 25.
In the raid, Knogga can have the following attack combinations:
- Normal attacks: clay bark (ground type) and smash (combat type).
- Charge attacks: Earthquake (ground type), Bone Club (ground type) and Shoveler (ground type)
When you catch Knogga, it has the following characteristics:
- maximum CP: 1,835
- attack: 144
- Defense: 186
- Health: 155
- Strengths: doubly effective against Electric Pokémon, effective against Poison and Rock Pokémon
- Weaknesses: weak against plant, ice and water attacks
Pokémon GO: Tier 4 Raid Knogga – The Best Counters
As a Ground Pokémon, Knogga is most vulnerable to Plant, Water, and Ice type attacks. If you choose an Ice Pokémon as a counter, note that Shatter is effective against Ice Pokémon. Overall, though, it’s best to rely on the following countering Pokémon when battling Knogga:
- Kyogre (Water Type) with Waterfall (Water Type) and Hydro Pump (Water Type).
- Mamutel (Ice Type) with Powder Snow (Ice Type) and Avalanche (Ice Type)
- Roserade (type Plant) with Razor Leaf (type Plant) and Shrubber (type Plant)
In addition, it is worthwhile to use:
- Snibunna (type Unlight/Ice) with Ice Shard (type Ice) and Avalanche (type Ice)
- Impergator (type Water) with Waterfall (type Water) and Aqua Howitzer (type Water)
- Garados (type water/flight) with waterfall (type water) and aqua howitzer (type water)
- Kapilz (type plant/fight) with Kugelsaat (type plant) and Strauchler (type plant)
- Tangoloss (Plant type) with Tendril Strike (Plant type) and Solar Beam (Plant type)
- Kokowei (Plant type) with Ball Seed (Plant type) and Solar Beam (Plant type)
- Mewtu (type Psycho) with Psycho Blade (type Psycho) and Ice Beam (type Ice)
If you are unable to field a full team with the above Pokémon, you can fall back on these Pokémon as a third choice:
- Bisaflor (Plant Type) with Tendril Strike (Plant Type) and Flora Statue (Plant Type).
- Gewaldro (Plant Type) with Bullet Seed (Plant Type) and Flora Statue (Plant Type)
- Tohaido (type water/unlight) with waterfall (type water) and hydro pump (type water)
- Sarzenia (type plant/poison) with razor blade (type plant) and leaf blade (type plant)
- Tengulist (type plant/unlight) with razor blade (type plant) and leaf blade (type plant)
- Brutalanda (type dragon/flight) with dragon rod (type dragon) and hydro pump (type water)
- Palkia (type water/dragon) with dragon rod (type dragon) and hydro pump (type water)
- Arktos (type Ice/Flight) with Ice Sodem (type Ice) and Blizzard (type Ice)
Also consider the following weather effects when fighting Knogga:
- Sunny weather: super-effective boost for plant attacks, boost for ground attacks.
- Cloudy weather: Boost for combat attacks
- Rain: Super-effective boost for water attacks
- Snow: Super-effective boost for ice attacks

Pokémon Go is the mobile spin-off of Nintendo’s popular Pokémon game series for Android and iOS. It is a so-called “location-based game”, i.e. a game that uses the player’s immediate surroundings. It is based on the principle of augmented reality.
Pokémon Map: Between landmarks and sights
Pokémon Go uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine the player’s location and displays it on a map that also represents the playing field. The map is based on OpenStreetMap maps. The game is played mostly outdoors and uses landmarks, landmarks and other notable or eye-catching objects in the world to position either PokéStops or arenas there for you to battle for supremacy. Join either Team Intuition (Team Yellow, Zapdos), Team Wisdom (Team Blue, Arktos), or Team Daring (Team Red, Lavados). Under their flag you can then fight for the arenas, which are placed at hotspots like churches or similar. Pokémon can appear anywhere, though.
Pocket monsters visible on the Pokémon Go Map are randomly loaded into the game’s virtual map by the game server. If several players are playing in the same location, each player can see and catch the Pokémon independently of the others.

The developers at Niantic regularly provide Pokémon Go with new updates or special raids that should only be tackled in a group of several people. The Pokémon Go Raids are therefore very popular, as they also offer the prospect of particularly rare Pokémon. For example, in the past, legendary Pokémon could always be caught on special occasions (Pokémon Go events). For particularly eager mobile or smartphone Pokémon trainers, there is also an external IV calculator, such as the online tool from Pokemon.gameinfo.io or on Pokefans.net, to check the values of your Pokémon.
