On February 15, 2022, you can celebrate the Pokémon Go Spotlight Hour with Smogon, who could also come as a Shiny in front of your Pokéball. It’s also exciting for trainers who need XP: catch Smogon during the Spotlight Hour and get double the catch XP!
Do you still want to get your trainer to level 50 in Pokémon Go and you’re missing a whopping amount of experience along with the other bonus requirements? Then you should take advantage of the Pokémon Go Spotlight Hour on February 15, 2022. Not only will masses of Smogon appear in the wild between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m., but you’ll benefit from an XP bonus when catching Pokémon during the Spotlight Hour.
Double Catch XP during the Spotlight Hour
After the Spotlight Hour on February 1, 2022 earned you double Development XP with Surprise Shiny Leufeo, you’ll now benefit from double Catch XP at the Smogon Spotlight Hour on February 15, 2022 – and that’s admittedly a bit more predictable, even for the casuals among Pokémon Go trainers.
So if you want to take the double catch XP on Feb. 15, 2022, you can prepare for it relatively easily. First, make sure you have enough Pokéballs in your bag. Ideally, these should be Hyperballs, as they have a lower chance of breaking out than normal Pokéballs.
Second, make sure you have enough space in your Pokémon box so that you can really focus on catching them during the one hour of the mini-event. And third, have a lucky egg ready to throw in right at the spotlight hour to benefit from a quadrupling of catch XP overall. Have fun farming!
What else is coming up in February 2022
Remember that the Johto Tour preparation event starts on February 18, 2022 – then it’s the Johto Tour itself’s turn on February 26, 2022. However, it doesn’t seem to be particularly attractive to fans of Pokémon Go; almost two-thirds of our survey participants told us that they don’t care about the Johto Tour in Pokémon Go.
Pokémon GO
Pokémon Go is the mobile spin-off of Nintendo’s popular Pokémon game series for Android and iOS. It is a so-called “location-based game”, i.e. a game that uses the player’s immediate surroundings. It is based on the principle of augmented reality.
Pokémon Map: Between landmarks and sights
Pokémon Go uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine the player’s location and displays it on a map that also represents the playing field. The map is based on OpenStreetMap maps. The game is played mostly outdoors and uses landmarks, landmarks and other notable or eye-catching objects in the world to position either PokéStops or arenas there for you to battle for supremacy. Join either Team Intuition (Team Yellow, Zapdos), Team Wisdom (Team Blue, Arktos), or Team Daring (Team Red, Lavados). Under their flag you can then fight for the arenas, which are placed at hotspots like churches or similar. Pokémon can appear anywhere, though.
Pocket monsters visible on the Pokémon Go Map are randomly loaded into the game’s virtual map by the game server. If several players are playing in the same location, each player can see and catch the Pokémon independently of the others.

The developers at Niantic regularly provide Pokémon Go with new updates or special raids that should only be tackled in a group of several people. The Pokémon Go Raids are therefore very popular, as they also offer the prospect of particularly rare Pokémon. For example, in the past, legendary Pokémon could always be caught on special occasions (Pokémon Go events). For particularly eager mobile or smartphone Pokémon trainers, there is also an external IV calculator, such as the online tool from Pokemon.gameinfo.io or on Pokefans.net, to check the values of your Pokémon.
