BACKGROUND

A highly creative Operator, Álvarez is unmatched at gaining the upper hand in tight urban environments. Working in her father’s auto repair shop laid the foundation for her deep understanding of how machines work and encouraged her to study mechanical and metallurgical engineering at university. Her strong sense of justice and her dedication to service brought Álvarez to the Cuerpo Nacional de Policía. Believing existing equipment to be inadequate, she developed new bulletproof materials to protect her teammates in the field. After being encouraged to apply to Grupo Especial de Operaciones, she outperformed more than 100 other applicants in the race for the coveted position. She designed the reinforced armor she wears herself. Álvarez was recruited by Rainbow as Head of Research and Development before joining the Combat Operators to better test her developments and improvements in the field. In her spare time she flies helicopters.

PSYCHOLOGICAL REPORT

Specialist Elena María “Mira” Álvarez reacts quickly and decisively. Such an adaptable and versatile person is difficult to assess…and it should be. She does, however, take risks, which I hope are calculated risks. Álvarez is one of the Operators who aspires the most to be Heroes. Though fiercely protective of teammates and friends, she sets the tone on the field, forcing others to subordinate her tactics to hers if they are to achieve their goals.

Álvarez enjoys working in the lab and I’m glad she accepted my offer to become R&D Manager. Being surrounded by machines at work reminds her of her father and the close bond they have to this day. For as long as she can remember they had always been the two of them, although her father’s stories about her grandmother gave her a second role model to look up to. One story in particular stands out: while her father was working late at night in his workshop, there was an accident in which he was trapped under a car. Álvarez found him. She was seven years old. She refused to leave him alone. Although he tried to stop her, she struggled with the heavy jack and was able to free him. Only then did she run to get help. I see this loyalty and tenacity in her and that is appreciated by her team. It comes from a kind heart.
Away from work, Álvarez is restless. She has managed to channel this restlessness and incorporate it into her artistic work. She is very proud of her metal sculptures and showed me photos of her work. She creates enchanting works of art from old machine parts and bulletproof glass. Thanks to her artistic sensitivity, Álvarez sees scenarios in front of her inner eye with a unique clarity. The team should be encouraged to use this talent more wisely.

Her ongoing rivalry with Specialist Eliza “Ash” Cohen is a meeting of two strong-willed people. Both have good leadership qualities and care about their teams. They just deal with challenges differently. We need to work through some scenarios where both can play to their strengths to achieve an acceptable outcome. Only joint successes will make them realize the value of each other’s approaches.
