DARK TEMPLAR DESCRIPTION

The Dark Templar are a group of powerful psionic warriors whose ancestors were banished from the Protoss homeworld of Aiur over a thousand years ago. The reason was their refusal to submit to the teachings of the Khala and the common mind shared by all Protoss and the associated caste system of the ruling Conclaves.

Members of these resisters rejected the Khala’s teachings, believing that their only purpose was to annihilate their individuality in order to further entrench the already oppressive Conclave rule. As a sign of their rejection, they did not even hesitate to sever the external nerve connections characteristic of Protoss. Through this symbolic act, they not only demonstratively distanced themselves, but also separated themselves from the collective of their people in the truest sense of the word. Ultimately, the Conclave viewed the insurgents as a serious threat to the new order, and assigned the Templar caste to hunt down and destroy the rebels.

But instead of obeying the order, the Templars, led by the idealistic warrior Adun, refused to murder their brothers. They decided to hide the insurgents from the watchful eyes of the ruling protoss. However, the Conclave’s fears appeared to be justified when Aiur was swept away by a wave of cataclysmic psionic storms unleashed by the undisciplined spirit of the rebellious Templars. In order not to reveal the existence of the rebels, the Conclave declined to publicly punish the Templars for their disobedience. Instead, the renegade Protoss were brought aboard an ancient Xel’naga starship and sent into the eternal night of space.

For a long time, the exiled Protoss traveled through endless space, finally finding a new home on the dark, seedy world of Shakura. Gradually, they developed a reclusive, independent culture there, members of which traveled space, often far from one another, always striving to explore the mysteries of the universe in order to understand its entirety. Over time, the Dark Templar developed psionic powers very different from those of the Khala: they harnessed the energies of the Void, the dark space between worlds.

The dark templar are notorious for their ability to use sheer force of will to direct light around their bodies, rendering them invisible to their enemies. A true master of the Void can attain abilities far more powerful. Armed with powerful Warpblades, the Dark Templar are deadly and ruthless opponents, whose devastating attacks can easily neutralize any conventional force.

Far removed from their homeworld and feared by their brethren for centuries, the dark templar still feel connected to their ancient homeworld of Aiur. After two heroes, Tassadar and Zeratul, joined forces to fight the Zerg Overmind, they recently reunited with the homeworld’s  protoss. The Overmind was defeated, but Aiur was severely devastated in the fighting and overrun by the Zerg. The survivors had no choice but to retreat to the planet Shakuras. Now it is the once-exiled Protoss who offer sanctuary to the refugees of their old homeworld.

PROTOSS

General Information

With their advanced technologies, the Protoss manage to spread fear and terror throughout the Starcraft universe. A variety of different combat robots, as well as some specially trained fighters who possess psi powers, are available to the Protoss in their battles against other forces. However, these also have their price, the training of fighters and upgrading with robots, not only devours vast amounts of resources, but also costs a lot of time.

The Protoss are considered the oldest and most developed race, but their old culture also has disadvantages. The Protoss naturally see themselves as autocrats and do not adapt to the new dangers, they remain in their rigid caste system and preserve the strict hierarchy in their culture at all costs.
