Vikings
VIKING DESCRIPTION
The Brood War revealed some massive weaknesses in the Terran forces’ air defenses. The combination of new starfighters and Valkyrie missile frigates proved too ineffective and cumbersome against the mobile flying organisms of the Zerg. The concept of ground-based anti-air defenses using Goliath Assault Walkers, on the other hand, lacked mobility: all too often, enemy air units would simply retreat out of Goliath’s weapon range in order to pounce on less well-defended targets instead.
Therefore, in the aftermath of the last war, Terran weapon designers introduced a radically new concept to solve both problems. Based on the transformation technology of the Terran siege tank, the Viking was the ultimate weapon system for anti-aircraft defense and ground-based battle group reinforcement. With the ability to change roles from an attack runner to an air superiority fighter, the Viking is able to adapt to the course of battle at any time and take on a variety of tactical roles.
The Wiking’s excellent mobility ensured that it continues to be used beyond its actual role as a ground support unit to this day. Raid attacks by Viking squadrons can sometimes cause devastating damage to the enemy and are difficult to counter. Only with a combination of strong air and ground forces does the enemy have a real chance of defeating a battle group consisting of Vikings.
Recruiting pilots who are sufficiently proficient in both combat modes poses great difficulties for the Terran forces. Average Viking pilots often die during their first combat mission trying to keep their complex war machines under control. Those talented enough to survive their first combat mission will soon become the elite of the Terran armed forces and will see many more battles to come.

TERRAN
General Information
The Terrans can neither boast impressive technologies nor unbeatable masses, they seem to be the least dangerous race in the Starcraft universe. However, this is also their strength, often underestimated by the enemy, they can attack from ambush and thus take advantage of the surprise effect. The Terran forces are often formed from prisoners who want to shorten their sentence. These fighters, assigned to the infantry, are often poorly trained, but have an iron will to fight. Smaller war machines, such as the infamous tanks, are often used to support the foot troops.
The Terrans’ greatest enemy seems to be the Terrans themselves: Shattered by internal conflicts and wars, the Terrans have never been able to form a cohesive army to reach their full potential.
