The only agent guide we’re still missing is about Skye, but don’t worry: we’ll get to it! If you want to play a crazy jack-of-all-trades in Valorant, Skye is the agent for you. Here’s everything you need to know about her.

Before the official release of Skye, many of us speculated that she would be an alternative to Sage. Both of them have the ability to heal teammates. However, this speculation quickly evaporated, as Skye isn’t a guard like Sage, but an initiator with many tools to mess with the enemy.

Skye Abilities Guide: Thrive

Skye’s first ability, Thrive, is why we thought she was like Sage:

RUN a “healing” pendant OFF. HOLD FIRE to channel and heal allies within sight and range. Can be used multiple times until Skye’s healing bar is exhausted. Skye cannot heal herself.

Unlike Sage, Skye has the ability to heal all allies within range of Thrive. This is special, healing an entire team solidly at the same time. The downside is that you all have to stand close together and a missile from Raze could destroy you all. Life is a risk.

Skye Ability Guide: Pathbreaker

Skye’s second ability is quite interesting to use.

ARMS a “Tasmanian Tiger” pendant OFF. FIRE to take control of the predator. Press FIRE while in control to leap forward, cause a concussive explosion, and inflict direct damage to enemies you hit.

Pathbreaker allows you to control the mind of a Tasmanian tiger, scouting out exactly where you need it. The tiger has 100 health and can be killed by enemies. If you managed to explode it on an enemy, they will be dazed for 3 seconds and take 30 damage. The total control time you have is 5 seconds, so better make use of it. This makes it ineffective at longer distances.

Skye Abilities Guide: Polaris

Her signature ability, Polar Star, is essentially a lightning strike, but it is somewhat unreliable and can be destroyed.

RAISE a “hawk” pendant OFF. FIRE to send the hawk out. HOLD FIRE to direct the hawk toward your crosshairs. FIRE RENEW as the hawk flies to turn it into a lightning bolt that plays a hit confirmation if an enemy was in sight and range.

The good news about this lightning bolt is that you get an audible confirmation if an enemy was hit by it. The bad news is, well, the Falcon itself. Since you can’t control it like you can the tiger, it sometimes doesn’t go where you want it to. Even Shroud has some problems landing the Falcons here.

Skye Skills Guide: Pack

Skye’s ultimate ability is pack. With it, you can get some useful information about enemy locations.

RAISE a “pack” follower. FIRE to send three seekers after the three closest enemies. When a seeker finds its target, its vision is limited.

Pack spirits have 150 health and can be killed by enemies. They search for a target for 15 seconds, and when they reach an enemy, they look at it briefly. Not the most impressive Ultimate in Valorant, but at least it serves the team, right?

Skye Strategy

As we mentioned earlier, Skye is definitely not a competitor to Sage. The only other agent that is similar to her is Breach. Both have three flashbangs, both have daze, and both are initiators. Comparing the two even further, Breach’s flashes are actually better and he has more tools to initiate, but sometimes Skye’s healing could make the difference. If you decide to play Skye, your main tasks will be gathering information with the Tiger and Ultimate, while also healing your teammates when possible.

Skye Tips and Tricks

Here are some useful hints on how to use Skye:

  • Polaris has a time limit. If you don’t activate it, the hawk will just disappear without flashing anyone
  • The hawk of Polaris can be destroyed by enemies and that prevents the flash
  • It may take you some time to learn how to control the hawk with the cursor, so be sure to practice it.
  • Unlike Polaris, Bahnbrecher only has a single charge, but it’s still worth using it mainly to gather information.
  • Thrive can only heal teammates and not Skye. Also, allies need to be in range as well as in sight.
  • The pack is great for reclaiming a location and finding camped enemies. Following directly behind the ghost might be a bad idea.
  • Skye is usually better at attacking. That’s where she really shines with all her exploration and initiation tools.

Skye certainly looks like a Breach 2.0 but offers some slight differences that might make you prefer her to the Swede. Do you see a lot of Skyes in your matches? Tell us on Facebook or Twitter!

Valorant Beginner’s Guide

Overwhelmed with Valorant? No wonder… Without experience in similar games (such as CS:GO or Overwatch) the start in Valorant is difficult. But don’t worry, we are here to help you with our Valorant Beginner Guide.

Valorant is a special game. Many think that getting into the game is easy, but without shooter experience, you’ll quickly be on the ropes. Even CS:GO veterans can get into trouble… In Counter-Strike, there are no flying knife-throwing things-people. But that’s why we are here.

This beginner’s guide is meant to help you get started in Valorant and introduce you to the world of Valorant. After that, the most important features should be clear to you, so that the fun in Valorant is not lost.

Valorant Beginner Guide: Basics

Let’s start with the meaning behind the game. In other words: What is Valorant anyway? Valorant is a first-person shooter in which two teams consisting of five players face off. The first team to win 13 rounds wins. Both teams have a different roles – attacker and defender.

The goal of the attackers is to place a spike and protect it until detonation. This must happen on one of the three spots (A/B/C). In turn, the defenders must prevent the attackers from doing so.

Each match consists of two halves. After the first half (12 rounds), the two teams switch roles. The attackers become defenders, the defenders become attackers. Easy.

Agents

Before the start of a match, each player must choose an agent. Agents have unique skills, which in most cases also require a certain playstyle (offensive, defensive, support, etc.). Currently there are 16 agents in total, but new agents have already been leaked and should be added soon.

As a new player, you can initially choose between 5 free agents: Brimstone, Phoenix, Sova, Jett and Sage. To unlock more agents, you will have to sign contracts, which is mostly done via Daily Quests or earning experience points.

Valorant Beginner Guide: The best agent to start with

Phoenix is by far the easiest agent to start with in Valorant. His skills are not too complicated, can be combined well in any situation. But watch out with the flashbangs (aka your Q skill)! You’ll probably flashbang yourself and your mates quite often in the beginning, but practice makes perfect!

Valorant Beginner Guide: The best mode to start with

Stay away from Unrated mode for the beginning. This may sound strange, but especially the beginning of Valorant might be hard for you. Frustration will lead to quick quits, which in turn will get you involved in penalties and XP loss. That’s why you should start with Spike Rush first. An average game here lasts 8 minutes, while other modes can easily go over 50 minutes. In Spike Rush, you’ll be quickly released from suffering without having to take any penalties.

In addition, you don’t have to do any eco rounds in Spike Rush. This means that you’ll be able to try out your agents’ abilities, as well as the most varied weapons. Spike Rush is a great mode to learn the basics of Valorant. When you feel like you’re firmly in the saddle, you can try your luck in Unrated mode. After 20 matches in Unrated mode, you’ll gain access to Competitive mode, where you can earn ranks.
