Campaign

The AUG is the standard weapon of Jason Hudson and the other members of the CIA in the Mass Destruction mission, where it is equipped with a silencer, an ACOG sight and a unique Yukon camouflage. After breaking through the first window, there is a similar AUG on the ground, but without the silencer. It is the standard weapon of Grigori Weaver.

Multiplayer

You unlock the AUG at level 26 and it is quite powerful, killing with three shots at close and medium range and four at long range. This, combined with the extremely high rate of fire, ensures that the AUG does the second highest damage per second of any automatic firearm in the game, putting it on par with the Famas. The high damage makes the AUG a versatile weapon, as you can fight excellently in tight spaces, while also often having the upper hand from further away.

Probably the biggest drawback of the AUG is the very noticeable recoil. When you are closer to your target, it stays in the center and is thus really controllable, but as soon as you shoot at something that is harder to see, the AUG is outclassed by other weapons that are more controllable. You can compensate for this by firing in short bursts. Thanks to the high rate of fire, you also literally burn through the small

magazine of only 30 rounds, which is why the double magazine or the magazine extension and nimbleness and scavengers are recommended. Calm hand can also be used, which raises the weapon to the level of a submachine gun in close combat.

Unlike the other weapons, the AUG uses a unique ACOG sight, namely the Svarovski sight, which is really clear, unlike the usual ACOG sights of the Americans and Russians. While the increased recoil and slower time to lock on can be a problem, if you are farther away from the target you really get an advantage from the sights, especially with Nimble Pro.

The AUG has almost the same stats as another assault rifle, the Famas. Before patch 10 they had almost identical stats, but then the hip fire dispersion on the Famas was increased, the time to lock on was slowed down, and the recoil was almost doubled. The biggest difference between the two assault rifles is in recoil. While the Famas always lashes out to the upper right, the AUG slings wildly from the upper left over to the right, keeping you more centered but less able to control recoil. Without question, the recoil of the Famas is more suitable for ranged combat, but the fast time to aim and the better streeing from the hip make the AUG the preferred weapon when it comes to close combat. Since the AUG lacks the controllable facts of the Famas, it is more suited to an aggressive, offensive style of play, while you can be more defensive and reserved with the Famas.

Overall, the AUG is a versatile weapon that works smoothly in close combat and at medium range due to its ability to kill with three shots, even going into ranged combat if you shoot in volleys. Since the Famas has been patched, the AUG is currently the most effective assault rifle in close combat. Although it lacks the mobility of a submachine gun and the precision of the other assault rifles, the sheer power of the weapon lets you rip quite a bit in close combat, making it an excellent weapon for aggressive players.

Survival Combat

The AUG appears on the maps Cinema of the Dead, Five, Ascension, Call of the Dead, Shangri-La and Moon, as well as on the redesigned versions of Night of the Undead, Shi No Numa, Crazy and The Giant. You can only get it at the mystery box, except in the Wii version, where it’s available in the movie theater in Cinema of the Dead under the automatic gun for 1200 points on the wall. The AUG does good damage, has a high rate of fire and plenty of spare ammo, making it a good weapon until round 20 if you aim for the heads. The Svarovski sight, which is always on the AUG, has two sides of a coin. On one side you can see more accurately and clearly on your target, on the other side you sight slower and the recoil is greater, so it is better to shoot from the hip in close combat. Speed Cola is highly recommended because you usually empty the small magazine quickly. Together with double-fire malt beer, which increases the already gigantic rate of fire even more, you burn through the ammunition of the weapon in an unimaginable time. Death Daiquiri can be combined with the Sight on the maps where you can buy the perk, making many headshots a breeze.

When you punch the AUG, the new name is “AUG-5OM3” (a combination of the words AUG and awesome). The gun becomes stronger, gets more ammo and a powerful masterkey shotgun under the barrel. The Masterkey has 36 rounds and kills hellhounds up to round 25 with one shot. Because of the high rate of fire, the AUG is the highest damage weapon of all the submachine guns, assault rifles and light machine guns when punched, but you have to be careful not to run out of ammo.

• Outside of multiplayer, the AUG is almost always seen with just the Svarovski sight, the only exceptions being the versions in the Wii edition of Cinema of the Dead and when the weapon is floating in the mysterious box.
• Originally, the AUG had a unique reload animation, but they preferred to revert to the animation of the AUG HBAR from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
• The AUG always has a grip in multiplayer, unless you use an underbarrel attachment.
• In the campaign, no camouflage is applied to the AUG’s sight, but in multiplayer it always adopts the same camouflage that the weapon itself occupies, unless you use gold.
• With a grenade launcher, masterkey or flamethrower, the AUG gets a unique heat shield. The AUG is also the only assault rifle that gets a heat shield through all of the underbarrel attachments.
• In the Wii version of Black Ops, the AUG is gray.
• The model of the weapon lacks a trigger.
• The AUG’s rear sight and front sight are identical to those of the Famas and G11. The M60, Enfield and Commando have the same front sight, but use a different rear sight.
• The icon to pick up looks like the foregrip is folded in.
• If you reload the masterkey cartridges in zombie mode, you can see that they have the same engravings as the punched weapon itself.
• In the multiplayer demo, the Svarovski sight had the same crosshairs as the American ACOG sight, higher visible recoil similar to the AK-47, and a unique sound when firing with the silencer.
• In the Mass Destruction mission, you have to pay attention to your friendly teammates’ weapons once you’re close to the satellite station. The AUG’s look like they don’t have a silencer, but sound like one when firing.

Call of Duty
