Campaign
The DSR 50 is used by the mercenaries in the Celerium mission, using the Blue Tiger Stripes camouflage. Sometimes the SEALs also use the weapon.
Multiplayer
Along with the SVU-AS, you can buy the DSR 50 with an unlock token once you have the class editor available. It is generally considered the strongest sniper rifle in the game. Without a silencer, the damage multipliers ensure that you kill with one hit to the arms, torso, neck, shoulders and head. Since you have to reload the lever after each shot, you are vulnerable between shots, especially if you hit multiple enemies. Reload time is average and can be compensated for with fast magazines.
With the silencer, the DSR 50 can only kill in the upper arms, neck, chest, and head with one shot. It has the most momentum of any sniper rifle and so it is best to use a ballistic processor because it reduces momentum.
The DSR 50 is often compared to the Ballista because both use straight-pull breach, but the DSR kills with one shot from the waist up, while the Ballista kills from the rib cage up. The Ballista, however, has a larger magazine of seven rounds, you pull the lever through faster, go to the sights quicker, and have the option of attaching an open sight. If you are looking for sheer strength and violence, you should prefer the DSR 50, while the Ballista is more for an aggressive, hasty style of play.
Survival Combat
The DSR 50 also appears in survival combat. You can buy it at the mysterious crate for 950 points. Its biggest and most obvious advantage is its strength, which allows you to kill with one shot until turn 12. However, there are also disadvantages, namely that the accuracy is lower than in multiplayer, it has a tiny magazine of only 4 rounds, the reload time is deadly slow and you have just 48 rounds in reserve.
When you punch the DSR 50, it gets a massive amount of strength added to it, like previous sniper rifles. You can eliminate multiple zombies with one shot until round 45. The magazine expands to eight bullets and you have 96 rounds in reserve. Accuracy has also been increased and you can now shoot at a zombie from further away without missing. As an add-on, you get variable zoom, while the momentum has been reduced. For 2000 points, you can punch multiple times, which adds (or subtracts) various attachments, among which can be a silencer and an open sight, which is not available in multiplayer for the DSR 50.
Once you’ve punched up the DSR 50 and purchased perks like Speed Cola and Double Fire Malt Beer, it’s the perfect weapon for eliminating single zombies at long to medium range, but it especially shines with the ability to take out entire hordes with one shot. With the open sights, it also becomes a bit more maneuverable in close combat.

- If you punch the gun several times, you will get the silencer after some time. This is the first and so far the only time on a weapon in survival combat and it is also not recommended because it just doesn’t make sense against zombies.
- The DSR 50 is Marlton’s favorite weapon. He also uses it in the opening scene of Die Rise.
- The DSR 50 is the first ordinary sniper rifle that can blow up a car with just one shot.
