Single-player

The Kiparis can be seen only in the hands of the Spetsnaz and in the armory in the mission numbers. Attachments are often magazine extensions, akimbo and reflex sights.

Multiplayer

The Kiparis is the secret submachine gun and is therefore unlocked only after you have bought all the other SMG’s (so not before level 41). It has a magazine that holds 20 rounds and runs out relatively quickly. Although the recoil is manageable and always pulls slightly upwards to the right, shooting in bursts is necessary at medium to long range, otherwise you need a grip.

Thanks to the low ammo and quick emptying of magazines, it’s useful if you have looters, Nimbleness Pro also does well, as the Kiparis only goes into the sights as fast as an assault rifle (0.25 sec), not about 0.2 seconds like most other submachine guns. Extended magazines and a grip compensate for the Kiparis’ biggest problems, low magazines and recoil.

Whether or not to put a sight on the Kiparis depends entirely on one’s preferences, as the

gun’s standard sight isn’t particularly clear, but it does provide a good view. The two-handed Kiparis is also convincing, as it reloads the fastest among the submachine guns. Warlord is also good to use, as you can either equip the Kiparis with the grip and magazine extension, or add a silencer for good sneaking.

The Kiparis does as much damage through walls as an assault rifle, which is why it is considered the best choice among submachine guns for taking down enemies through obstacles. The Kiparis’ aiming assist is also on par with that of an AK-74u light machine gun, which once again sets it apart.

It is definitely not recommended to use rapid fire for the Kiparis, since the rate of fire increases extremely and with it, unfortunately, probably also the recoil, moreover, the small magazines are then even faster empty. Warlord can still help a bit here by adding a grip.

One thing where the Kiparis can still clearly shine is its reload speed among SMGs. At 1.3 seconds, it’s clearly the fastest, just ahead of the PM-63, plus it’s even the fastest of all the weapons from the game. This helps the player when not using nimbleness, plus it gives the player the freedom to carry a secondary weapon other than a pistol because you won’t get caught reloading as often.

Liparis is Russian for “cypress”.
The serial number is “902040”, which can be seen near the rear sight.
The Kiparis shares the same reloading sound as the MP40.
On the Wii, the gun is held with one hand instead of both.
As with all other high damage submachine guns, rapid-fire on the Wii has no effect on the Kiparis.
As with the other submachine guns that have two-handed attachment, there are different firing sounds for the left and right weapons.
Back when they added the grip, it had no effect on the accuracy display in the class editor. That was improved with a patch.
The Kiparis has significantly higher recoil two-handed than other submachine guns, but the weapon always pulls to the right, so you can roughly compensate for that.
In the class editor, double-handed Kiparis are always shown with extended magazines.
The Kiparis is the only Russian weapon in Black Ops that does not use the Russian ACOG or red dot sights. Instead, the western versions are used.
The fire sound of the Kiparis is used for the Sten in Project Nova.
Originally, the Kiparis was also supposed to exist in Survival, but it was replaced by the PM-63.
The Kiparis is the only secret weapon that does not have a number in its name.
