The Makarov is a pistol from Call of Duty: Black Ops, the DS version of Black Ops and Call of Duty: Black Ops II.

Campaign
The Makarov often appears in the campaign as a secondary weapon of the Spetsnaz and NVA, it is also used by the guards in Vorkuta and Viktor Reznov. Alex Mason uses it to fend off the attacking guards in Vorkuta while the trio ducks behind the coal truck, and it is also used to execute Steiner.
Multiplayer
The Makarov is one of the three pistols that you unlock immediately when you enter the class editor at level 4. It does as much damage as the other pistols, except for the Python, and has eight bullets in the magazine, but you can make it 12 with a magazine expansion. In the weapons game, the Makarov is the second weapon, you get it double-handed. It is very similar to the M1911, but it has one more bullet in the magazine, is pulled out slower when you have it akimbo, and has to reload longer, though hardly noticeable. The M1911 with magazine extension has two more bullets in the magazine than the Makarov with the same attachment.
Call of Duty: Black Ops (DS)
Campaign and Survival
The Makarov is the starter weapon in the Prison Break mission. In zombie mode it is also the first weapon, unlike on consoles where you start with the M1911.
Multiplayer
The Makarov is the favorite secondary weapon of the Russians and Vietnamese on the DS under the name Makarov PM. The weapon has 12 bullets in the magazine, a clear sight and has decent firepower, 2-3 shots in the chest and one shot in the head are enough. If you use Second Chance, you get a Makarov with a silencer, even if the player has a normal Makarov.

The Makarov only appears in the Black Ops II campaign and is always available from the start of the Old Wounds mission.

- Posters describing the weapon in detail and also showing individual parts can be seen on the Salvage map from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, although this weapon does not appear in the game at all.
- In the trailer for the competitive games, the double-handed Makarov had a completely different fire sound than in the released game.
- In the same trailer, One is also shown for the first time in the run, where the Makarov is the starter weapon, although in the final game the M1911 is the pistol that is used. Since the game mode icon also shows a Makarov, this means that this weapon was originally intended to be used in One in the Barrel.
- The Makarov is held with both hands, but in the trailers for the multiplayer, the player holds it in one hand, which is also the case on the Wii in the final version.
- The Makarov on the Wii is totally different from its console counterparts. It has a different sound when you shoot, more specifically it almost sounds like a punched gun, it’s generally quieter and if you attach a magazine extension the gun reloads slower.
- On the Wii, the Makarov does more damage than the M1911.
- Sometimes when picking up a Makarov from the ground, the player does not unlock the weapon.
- The Makarov uses the same magazine as the ASP.
- When using the Akimbo attachment, the left Makarov makes no noise when firing.
- The DS version with a silencer does not show a silencer in the menu, you just see a normal Makarov.
- While you duck behind the coal truck in Vorkuta, the Makarov has been extremely reinforced. At close range you kill with one shot, from a distance with two shots. In the uncensored version, it also leaves gigantic wounds on the guards.
