Single Player
The MP40 is one of the most common weapons in the game, which is why you can find plenty of ammo on the battlefields. The submachine gun is comparable to the Sten. It causes immense damage. With it, any enemy can be finished off with two shots. However, the firepower will also drop to as low as 20 in United Offensive, depending on the distance. Its large magazine and low recoil also make the MP40 a dangerous weapon. However, its rate of fire is only mediocre and it doesn’t have a semi-automatic fire mode, unlike many other submachine guns in the game.
Multiplayer
The MP40’s damage has been reduced in multiplayer. Thus, it takes 3 bullets to take out an opponent, and in United Offensive up to seven hits are needed due to the reduced damage at long ranges.

The weapon is also available in the Call of Duty 2: Big Red One expansion.
Single-player
While the rate of fire and firepower is comparable to the MP40 from Call of Duty, the recoil has been increased noticeably. This makes it harder to control the weapon, but this is not a major problem when fighting at short distances. The range of the weapon has also been reduced.
The MP40 does devastating damage. Two hits are enough to kill an opponent.
Multiplayer
Although the maximum damage in multiplayer has been halved, three hits are enough to take out an enemy at short range. At long distances, however, it does very little damage, so up to 10 hits are needed to eliminate an enemy. Because of this and the greater recoil, it is not recommended to use this submachine gun at long distances.
World at War
The MP40 is only found in the Eastern Front campaign and is used here by Wehrmacht and Waffen Division soldiers. You can get it in multiplayer.
Survival
It also appears in the Zombie mod.
Black Ops
It only appears in the Project Nova mission.
Survival
It can be bought in the 4th room upstairs ( in Cinema of the Dead) and costs 1000 points, but it can also be reached in the other maps and costs 1000 points.
