WoW Azure water strider – grab him before Warlords of Draenor

Are you returning to WoW after a long break, have you largely ignored Mists of Pandaria, or have you played but never gotten enthusiastic about reputation farming? Then we have a tip for you: Get the Azure Water Strider for Warlords of Draenor. The mount always makes your quest life easier when it comes to the hated opponent of many players: the water.

Many WoW players know this for sure: Whether it’s leveling up, tearing down daily quests or farming various rare mobs on the coast of the Timeless Island – water is annoying, and it’s really annoying! If you’re not playing shaman or death knight, thanks to various class skills you can do the Jesus and just walk across the cool water, water annoys you even more. Even if you only have to cross a narrow rivulet in a quest, in which you lose the ground under your feet for two meters, the whole adventure still gets on your nerves. One could now argue: “But … we can fly over it!” That’s right, mostly anyway.

All very down to earth
Coming soon to Draenor, flying is not an option, even after reaching max level 100, at least until patch 6.1 if not until the end of WoD. So gliding over the water isn’t an option, how about riding over it instead? Of course, a few narrow rivers or lakes in quest areas aren’t the end of the world. However, if we had the choice to simply ride over it, we would. And we have the choice! The animal that we are now presenting to you will certainly be familiar to many of you, and some of you may even own it. However, since many returnees are currently arriving in Azeroth, we want to highlight it again: the Azure Water Strider .

You can purchase this mount from master angler Nat Pagle, who is not only a living legend in MoP, but also the quartermaster of the The Anglers faction (located southeast of the Krasarang Wilds coast). Acquiring the Water Strider, however, requires exalted reputation with the Anglers… and at this point most players roll their eyes, unaware of what an incredibly handy rideable pedestal they’re slipping through the cracks with!

Collecting reputation points alone goes against the grain for most people; understandable after the daily quest massacre in MoP. But if the sideline fishing comes into play, which lies somewhere between photosynthesis and washing dishes on a tension scale, even the last potential targets wave away. But on the one hand, the manageable effort is worth it and hey: there’s nothing to do at the moment, is there? So how do you get Angler Reputation?

Daily Quests
There are many ways to earn Fishing Reputation – the most obvious being, of course, daily quests. But “officially” there are only three of them, and they’re done in ten minutes. The offer is different every day; some of the tasks can be resolved like any other daily quest: go there, knock that down, bring that back. Others require casting the fishing rod. So you must at least have learned the side job (you can also go directly to Nat Pagle), but the fishing skill itself is rather secondary, even if your skill does affect how quickly you pull the items out of the water for a quest. We tried a special quest (“Shocking!”) with both skill 600 and 23 and it worked in both cases, in the latter, however, much slower. Positive side effect: If you throw out the fishing rod for a quest, you increase your skill along the way.

Rare specialty fish
During your raids through Pandaren waters, depending on the fishing location, you may hook fish with an exclamation mark on the icon. These special fish (three different ones in total) also start daily quests and are handed in to Nat Pagle. Each of these fish gives you reputation with the anglers AND with Nat Pagle. The latter is of no interest for obtaining the water strider! The best places to find it are:

Flying Tiger Gourami: Cast your line inland in the Krasarang Wilds, on the rivers just north of the jetty.
Squid: Just fish from the jetty’s jetties.
Spinyfish Alpha: Your best chance is at Lake Binan (Kun-Lai Summit).
Note: We also caught the rare fish in the test with fishing skill 23, but the frequency can vary. Fact is: With a fishing skill of +550 you should get the beasts quickly, since Blizzard has greatly increased their drop chance.

Bonus reputation from scenarios/dungeons
Remember that by visiting random scenarios (normal and heroic) and dungeons, you can earn additional reputation points for a MoP faction of your choice. Open the reputation window and click the star next to “Angler”. Per day you can now get reputation points via a random normal and a heroic scenario as well as via a heroic dungeon.

Bonus reputation through reputation bonuses
Use reputation bonuses whenever possible. For example, people automatically gain 10 percent more reputation from all sources through diplomacy. Another opportunity can be found once a month at the Darkmoon Faire. Spin the carousel for a few laps there to get another ten percent reputation.

If you farm completely without a reputation bonus and exhaust all sources every day, you need at least 13 days to reach Exalted reputation. But keep in mind that you also get gold and bravery points for scenarios and dungeons! Our table shows you how many reputation points you can collect per day.

What is WoW Classic?

World of Warcraft Classic is a true recreation of the original WoW as you know it from 2006. All parts of the game – from combat mechanics and talent trees to character models and zones – have been recreated, contributing to the authentic experience.

Getting Started

All players with an active World of Warcraft subscription or game time on their accounts have access toWoW Classic at no additional cost.

1. Open the Blizzard Battle.net Desktop App and select World of Warcraft from the menu.
2. Select World of Warcraft Classic from the Version menu. If you have more than one World of Warcraft account, you’ll see a second Account drop-down list. In this column, select the active account you want to play with.
3. Click the Install button. The progress bar will tell you when your game is ready to play.
4. Click the Play button when the installation is complete.

You will need to select the realm you want to play on from several different realm types. Make sure you choose the same realm as your friends – in World of Warcraft Classic, you can only group with characters that are on the same realm as you!
