Next to the druids, the shamans are among the most versatile heroes in the World of Warcraft Classic. Their hybrid character, i.e. the ability to fill different roles with the appropriate talents, is also much more pronounced than it is today in “Retail WoW”. In this guide we will show you how to efficiently play your elemental shaman from level 1 up to a maximum level of 60.

In World of Warcraft lore, shamans are the spiritual leaders of their tribes and clans. They communicate with spirits, can see into the future, and guide their people through the darkest of times. Her wisdom and serenity are often mistaken for pacifism. However, when challenged, shamans draw on their various powers to deal with threats to the natural order.

Shaman are members of a secondary healer class (following the priest class) that has an interesting assortment of spells and options. They are particularly popular with other party members for their healing abilities and useful totems. Shamans can place up to four types of totems: air, earth, fire, and water. As a shaman player, you need to figure out which totem is best for which situation. The following tips are based on Caperfin’s Elemental Shaman PvE Guide . In the past, when the topic of shamans was brought up in PvE, it was usually assumed that it was about a healing shaman. The fact that a magic shaman can also dish out considerable damage in PvE was deliberately ignored. Now that all of the game’s mechanics have been studied by theorycrafters for over a decade, this conventional wisdom has now been sufficiently disproved. An elemental shaman – given the right expertise and equipment – can not only dish out a lot of damage, but also provide excellent support for his teammates.

Elemental Shaman Leveling – Pros and Cons

In WoW (buy now) Classic offers three specializations to level your Shaman: Enhancement Shaman with a two-handed weapon, Enhancement Shaman with one-handed weapon and shield, and Elemental Shaman. What is “optimal” is a matter of opinion: If you want to level up as mana-sparingly as possible, you choose an amplifier build with a one-handed weapon and shield; if you want more (melee) damage, you swap the shield for a two-handed weapon. The election of the people plays a big role if you aim for the highest level of efficiency. Shamans are exclusive to the Horde in WoW Classic, with three races to choose from: Orc, Tauren, and Troll. Unfortunately, our bovine and green friends don’t have beneficial elemental shaman racial abilities, so our focus is on the trolls. Trolls offer:

Berserker : Increases your attack and casting speed by 10% to 30%. At full health, haste is increased by 10%. The effect is increased by up to 30% if you are seriously injured when activating the berserk ability. Lasts 10 seconds, 3 minute cooldown.
Regeneration : Health regeneration rate increased by 10%. 10% of total health regeneration can continue during combat.
Beast Slayer : Damage done to beasts increased by 5%.
Thrown Weapons Specialization : Skill with thrown weapons increased by 5.
Bow Specialization : Bow skill increased by 5.
Trolls are therefore the optimal race to inflict as much damage as possible on a target. They excel especially on bosses classified as beasts. But if you really want to play a tauren or orc, you should. This tip is only intended to show the special advantages of the trolls.

Professions for elemental shamans

Herbology and alchemy are ideal during the lengthy level phase . Herbalism provides useful reagents for alchemy and is also a good source of income for later endgame professions. The potion buffs are very helpful for aspiring elemental shamans. Spell Rotation
Set up your totems (see priorities above) and activate your weapon buff (Stonebiter Weapon, Flametongue Weapon, or Frostburn Weapon)
Cast the highest rank of Lightning Bolt until the mob is in melee range; if Elemental Mastery has no cooldown, combine Lightning Bolt and Chain Lightning (level 40 and above)
If the mob is in melee range, cast “Lightning Shield” (and optionally “Flame Shock” for maximum damage)
Begins to attack mob with weapon (“white strike”); while Elemental Focus is expiring, casts highest rank of Earth Shock or Frost Shock (before level 32) or Chain Lightning (after level 32) – if while Eye of the Storm is expiring, casts highest rank of Lightning or Chain Lightning (depending on mob’s mana pool/life points)
The Mana Problem – Tip for Elemental Shamans
Even if you are advanced as an elemental shaman and are well-positioned in terms of intelligence, spell hit chance, and talent and equipment critical hit chance, you will soon find yourself without mana even at moderate game speeds. The standard Morning Glory rope (without discount) is not only very expensive at 1.60 gold per stack (20 pieces), but also restores comparatively little mana at 2934 points in 30 seconds. Therefore, it is advisable to ask for mages who can produce summoned crystal water in the city’s trade chat before the “tour”. 2 gold pieces for 4 stacks (80 pieces) is a fair price here. Summoned Crystal Water restores 4,200 mana points in 30 seconds, which significantly increases your farming speed and saves you money.

Getting Started

All players with an active World of Warcraft subscription or game time on their accounts have access toWoW Classic at no additional cost.

1. Open the Blizzard Battle.net Desktop App and select World of Warcraft from the menu.
2. Select World of Warcraft Classic from the Version menu. If you have more than one World of Warcraft account, you’ll see a second Account drop-down list. In this column, select the active account you want to play with.
3. Click the Install button. The progress bar will tell you when your game is ready to play.
4. Click the Play button when the installation is complete.

You will need to select the realm you want to play on from several different realm types. Make sure you choose the same realm as your friends – in World of Warcraft Classic, you can only group with characters that are on the same realm as you!
