WoW Classic Why a PvP trinket for raid villains is currently BiS.

If you look at the WoW classic piece of jewelery Renataki’s amulet of trickery, you probably immediately think of extremely high damage values that a villain can cause in a very short time thanks to the energy injection. But the trinket is not only mandatory for PvP villains, dagger wielders, who mainly hang around in the raid challenges, should definitely get the part.

During the first few weeks and months of WoW Classic, I watched numerous rogue videos that kept talking about how strong Renataki’s Amulet of Trickery is in PvP and that PvP rogues should definitely get the thing once Zul’ Gurub is available. However, PvE challenges such as dungeons and raids were never mentioned.

And I also remember well that I put on the piece of jewelry in vanilla WoW, especially on the battlefields and in duels. The 60 energy at the push of a button simply allows for an impressive burst phase, in which an enormous amount of damage rains down on the victim. In PvE, on the other hand, I used other options, after all the amulet here is no more than ” Thistle tea light”. Oh, how little I knew then.

Thanks to today’s knowledge and simulations, we now know for sure that all PvE rogues should also get Renataki’s Amulet of Trickery if possible . In fact, many best-in-slot compilations (BiS) for phase 4 and the start of phase 5 (with four parts Tier 0.5) rely on the 2-piece bonus from the Zul’Gurub set Tomorrow’s Armor (+ 20 Attack Power) and the best option here in many battles is to resort to the trinket as well as the pauldrons. Incidentally, it doesn’t matter whether you use swords or daggers.

How good is Renataki’s Amulet of Trickery?
The simulations of Snomie by Classic Roguecraft show how positively the piece of jewelery affects your damage :

  • In a 60 second fight with daggers and the current BiS without the Zul’Gurub set: 1348.69 damage per second
  • In a 60 second fight with daggers and the current BiS with ZG shoulders and Renataki’s Amulet of Trickery: 1372.71 DPS (plus 24 DPS)
  • In a 90 second fight with daggers and the current BiS without the Zul’Gurub set: 1280.32 damage per second
  • In a 90 second fight with daggers and the current BiS with ZG shoulders and Renataki’s Amulet of Trickery: 1288.61 DPS (up 8.29 DPS)

Snomie has also simulated other currently relevant combat durations for dagger rogues, consistently finding that Renataki’s Amulet of Trickery can outperform Blackhand’s Broad and even Hand of Justice alternatives . This only changes when fights last longer than two minutes and 48 seconds.

And this is how it looks for sword villains:

  • In a 60 second fight with swords and the current BiS without the Zul’Gurub set: 1360.63 damage per second
  • In a 60 second fight with Swords and the current BiS with ZG Shoulders and Renataki’s Amulet of Trickery: 1372.93 DPS (up 12.3 DPS)
  • In a 90 second fight with swords and the current BiS without the Zul’Gurub set: 1290.97 damage per second
  • In a 90 second fight with swords and the current BiS with ZG shoulders and Renataki’s Amulet of Trickery: 1294.32 DPS (plus 3.35 DPS)

You can see that Sword Rogues benefit significantly less from the energy boost of Renataki’s Amulet of Cunning, but the gem is still the best possible choice for short fights. Only if a brawl lasts 110 seconds or longer will Blackhand’s Breadth or Hand of Justice do more damage. In fact, the Trinket is so good that even Sword Rogues wearing the full Bloodfang T2 set (and thus unable to activate the first bonus of the ZG set) should consider Renataki’s Amulet of Cunning in short fights. In fights that last 60 seconds, simulations indicate a DpS plus of about 6.79 from here. Only at about 80 seconds or more does the ZG Trinket cause damage loss.

Phase 5 then brings into play two activatable trinkets that are better than Renataki’s Amulet of Guile. 1) Jom Gabbar (definitely) and 2) Earth Slam (if you can’t activate the 2-set bonus through Renataki).

What is the best way to use Renataki’s Amulet of Guile?
Basically, the same rules apply to using Renataki as to using Thistle Tea:

Absorb enough energy before using it to get the full energy boost.
If possible, wait for a proc from your Crusader enchantment.
Use the gem in combat against multiple targets while Blade Storm is active.
In battles against a single target, the trinket can help you refresh Slice and Dice efficiently.
How do I get Renataki’s Amulet of Guile?
If you’re keen on the Zul’Gurub set gems, you’ll need to use your raid to summon the optional bosses on the brink of insanity. You will need to take the following items from the bosses:

Hazza’rah’s Dream Thread
Wushoolay’s Mane
Renataki’s Tooth
Gri’lek’s Blood
Since the bosses only alternate every two weeks, it will take you a while to gather all the items. With these four items and a rogue voodoo doll, you can then craft the trinket.

What is WoW Classic?

World of Warcraft Classic is a true recreation of the original WoW as you know it from 2006. All parts of the game – from combat mechanics and talent trees to character models and zones – have been recreated, contributing to the authentic experience.

Getting Started

All players with an active World of Warcraft subscription or game time on their accounts have access toWoW Classic at no additional cost.

  1. Open the Blizzard Battle.net Desktop App and select World of Warcraft from the menu.
  2. Select World of Warcraft Classic from the Version menu. If you have more than one World of Warcraft account, you’ll see a second Account drop-down list. In this column, select the active account you want to play with.
  3. Click the Install button. The progress bar will tell you when your game is ready to play.
  4. Click the Play button when the installation is complete.

You will need to select the realm you want to play on from several different realm types. Make sure you choose the same realm as your friends – in World of Warcraft Classic, you can only group with characters that are on the same realm as you!
