Battle of Tillet
Sam’s first confirmed deployment was to Tillet, Belgium on January 9, 1945. Along with the 761st Panzer Battalion, he attempted to retake the Belgian town of Tillet with a number of Sherman tanks and to reduce or eradicate German activity. Every now and then, he and his squad would secure houses and destroy German tanks via Panzerfaust, as the Shermans were occasionally put out of action for a few minutes by barricades.
