Heroes (Dota 2)
The heroines and heroes (original: “Heroes”) are the primary playable entities in DotA and Dota 2. In a game, each player takes control of one of the 112 playable heroines and heroes. Each hero and heroine is a character with different attributes, abilities and roles. Each heroine and hero can also be categorized by the default attacks, which happen either in melee or ranged attacks.
Valve plans to develop their own heroines and heroes for Dota 2 after the release of the classic heroines and heroes from DotA Allstars, as Erik Johnson previously announced in a 2014 interview. After the release of Arc Warden in December 2015 and that of Underlord in August 2016, the first hero developed exclusively for Dota 2, Monkey King, appeared in winter 2016, although it was at least based on concepts from classic DotA and appeared there as an event boss opponent. The Dueling Fates update announced in August 2017 confirmed the release of two completely redesigned heroes.
Kunkka: “Step lively now, your Admiral is on board!”
Kunkka, the Admiral Kunkka Icon.png, is a strength hero from DotA and Dota 2. He is a melee unit and belongs to the Radiant. In the game, he can take the role of a Disabler, Initiator, Carry and Durabler. Due to his versatile role, his attacks are suitable for area damage as well as for stunning and pinning down enemies. More so than some other heroes, Kunkka requires perfect timing, which is why he is not one of the most beginner-friendly heroes. Torrent has a delay when casting, but stuns, damages and slows down enemies on hit. His passive ability, Tidebringer, causes area-of-effect damage in close combat at smaller intervals, which can also damage invisible Heroes on the enemy team. By X Marks the Spot, Kunkka can mark an enemy or allied hero and return it to the starting position at the time of the effect by Return within the effect time. If the target gains magic immunity before this, they can escape the ability. With his Ultimate Ghostship, Kunkka summons a ghost ship that deals damage to enemy units and stuns on collision, while giving allies a speed bonus and delaying them from taking damage. However, the delay cannot kill allies. Kunkka’s Ultimate can be upgraded with Aghanim’s Scepter to carry enemies along with it.

Kunkka always predicts where his opponents will be next. He can attack certain places by conjuring up geysers or the wreck of a ghost ship. If he aims correctly with these, he and his allies can easily deal with what’s left.
Kunkka – Biography
“As admiral of the mighty Claddish navy, Kunkka was responsible for protecting the islands of his homeland when the demons of Cataract targeted human lands. After years of small-scale operations and increasingly daring and devastating attacks, the demon fleet threw all its flesh-eating ships against the Trembling Isle. Desperate, the suicide mages of the Cladd summoned a host of ancestral spirits in their final ritual to protect the fleet. Against the demons, this was just enough to turn the tide of battle. As Kunkka watched the demons sink his ships one by one, he felt the satisfaction of wearing down the enemy fleet with his ancient magic. But during the height of the battle, something in the mix of demons, humans, and spirits must have awakened a fourth power slumbering in the depths. The waves grew into massive mountains around the few remaining ships, and Maelrawn the Tentacular appeared amidst the tumult of battle. His tentacles wove between the ships, pulling boats of demons and humans alike together and turning water and wind into a raging chaos. What happened there in the eye of the storm, no one can say for sure today. The Cataract’s ships disappeared into the void, abandoned by their former crew. Kunkka is now the admiral of a single ship, a ghostly wreck that keeps reliving the last seconds of its destruction. Whether he died during this sea break is a matter of speculation. Not even Tidehunter, who summoned Maelrawn, can say for certain.”
