Venomancer: “You can’t run from the venomous one!”
Lesale Deathbringer, the Venomancer (Poisoner), is an agility hero from DotA and Dota 2. He is a ranged Dire unit that can weaken and damage enemies for long periods of time with its poison. In the game, he can take on the role of a support, nuker, initiator and pusher. Through Venomous Gale, the Venomancer shoots a poison ball that slows and damages enemies over time. His passive ability Poison Sting has almost the same effect, but also lets him poison enemy units with normal attacks, damaging and slowing them. With his Plague Wards, which are immune to magical attacks, Venomancer can damage not only enemy units but towers as well. Venomancer can use his Ultimate to deal poison damage over a wide area within a radius, which can also severely damage fleeing enemies due to its duration. The downside to this ability, however, is that it can’t kill enemies on its own, as it causes enemies to lose energy down to their last health at most, making it possible for them to narrowly escape.

Venomancer brings slow death to his enemies. Sprouting an endless army of toxin-spitting watchers to defend his territory, should foes draw near he can release a massive cloud of lingering poison to weaken enemies.

“In the acid jungles of the Jidi Islands, venom flows through the veins and vesicles of the guts of every creature that crawls, climbs, or leaps through the luminous plant life, emitting corrosive juices. But even in this poisonous zoo, Venomancer is considered the most venomous of all creatures. Years earlier, a herbalist named Lesale had cruised Fradj Harbor in a coracle, looking for a potent essence that could be extracted from barks and roots – but what he found was a nightmarish transformation. After two leagues in the jungles of Jidi, Lesale encountered a reptile masquerading as an epiphyte. When he mistakenly tried to pick it, it stung him. In desperation, with his half-knowledge of the herbs of the jungle, he tried to mix the poison of the (quickly killed) reptile with the nectar of an armored orchid to make an antidote. Moments before black paralysis overtook him, he injected himself with the orchid thorn and fell into a coma. 17 years later, something moved at the spot where he had fallen, throwing aside the soil that had accumulated over the years – what was revealed then was Venomancer. Lesale the Herbalist no longer existed – but Lesale the Bringer of Death did. His mind and flesh had passed away and were replaced by something new – something that fused together the venom of the reptile and the skin of the poisonous orchid. The acid jungles of Jidi knew a new master, a master to whom even the most dangerous hunters quickly learned to bow or bury themselves for the sake of their lives. The garish island proved too confining for the Venomancer, the hunger for humans eventually driving Lesale outward in search of new poisons and new deaths he was capable of evoking.”
Heroes (Dota 2)
The heroines and heroes (original: “Heroes”) are the primary playable entities in DotA and Dota 2. In a game, each player takes control of one of the 112 playable heroines and heroes. Each hero and heroine is a character with different attributes, abilities and roles. Each heroine and hero can also be categorized by the default attacks, which happen either in melee or ranged attacks.
Valve plans to develop their own heroines and heroes for Dota 2 after the release of the classic heroines and heroes from DotA Allstars, as Erik Johnson previously announced in a 2014 interview. After the release of Arc Warden in December 2015 and that of Underlord in August 2016, the first hero developed exclusively for Dota 2, Monkey King, appeared in winter 2016, although it was at least based on concepts from classic DotA and appeared there as an event boss opponent. The Dueling Fates update announced in August 2017 confirmed the release of two completely redesigned heroes.
