Since its introduction in FIFA 09, Ultimate Team has grown in popularity within the community. Today it’s the undisputed number one FIFA game mode and offers a lot of fun – but as gamers we all know that winning is a lot more fun than losing. So now we’re going to look at some strategies on how not only to kick the ball, but also to kick opponents’ butts in FUT.
There are two parts to getting good at FIFA Ultimate Team: one is having a strong team and the other is making the most of them in the game. Of course, this can vary from player to player, but there are some basic tips and tricks that will boost any FUT gamer’s career.

Let’s start with the squad. There are two ways to add players to the team: opening packs and trading or buying cards on the open market. The packs are pretty straightforward. They contain different numbers of player cards of different denominations – which cards are of which denomination depends on what type of pack was purchased. You can then either keep the cards themselves or trade them.
So you either get packs or go the “true path of the gamer”. Sounds epic, but it also means an enormous, if not necessarily financial investment: Because whoever masters the game collects points and coins, which can then be used for better player cards. Of course, this takes a lot more time, but is sometimes more satisfying than opening one pack at a time.
So: either buy or earn. Sometimes a combination of both might help. But beware! The packs consist of random player cards – it’s easy to spend money there without actually getting what you want in the end.

If you want to put your negotiation skills to the test, you can enter the player card exchange. That sounds bigger than it is though… It’s not just you, but the millions of other FUT players who can put your tickets up for sale – and they all share one hope: outsmart the other and get the better deal in the end to have done (just like in real life). Of course, the deals do not consist of real money, but of the in-game currency. So: happy trading!
But beware, in order not to be fooled, you should know one thing: the value of a card is directly related to the real achievements of the player – whether he is flying high, whether he was voted team of the week, etc. If you take this into account, increases his card value and thus his chances of success in the game. By the way: The cards of these particularly good players in turn increase the value of the star players.
The best approach here is to choose your purchases wisely and jump in quickly. Because the longer you wait, the more expensive the high-quality cards will be. On the other side of (trade) power, on the other hand, the rule is: be patient. Sellers benefit from the fact that the value of high-quality cards in particular increases rather than falls over time. With most leagues playing on weekends, just before that is the perfect time to put tickets on sale.
Ultimately, the fundamental question arises: packs or trading? Did a chimney sweep just come by? Is there a shamrock growing right outside your front door? If so, you can confidently rely on the luck of the packs. If not, it’s probably better to focus on smart trading and continuous team building. At least then you know what you are getting for your money. More business than luck will have a decent bunch of players in no time.
Team chemistry and positioning
Now that we know how to acquire a good squad, it’s time to learn how to use it. The most important trait – and a very cool one – is chemistry. Again, like in real life, players will do better in-game if they play with players in the same league, with real teammates, or with compatriots.
The chemistry is right? Then there is one more thing to consider: positioning. Messi at left back may sound like a fun idea – and sure, it is. But how good would that be in a real game in the stadium? At best experimental. And it’s the same with FUT. The further you push a player from their natural position, the weaker they will play. Funny lineups are better saved for games with your best friends.

EA SPORTS FC: FIFA GAME SERIES TO BE CONTINUED UNDER NEW NAME
Of course, the soccer simulation game series will not be discontinued completely. After FIFA 23, EA will relaunch the game under the name EA Sports FC and market it independently.
