Downtown is a Hostage Scenario map from Counter-Strike: Global Offensive . It is set in and partly around a bank in a major US city. The map was submitted to the Steam Workshop by Tanuki on February 08, 2013 and was part of Operation Payback from April 25 to August 31 . As a result, the map was temporarily included in the official CS map canon.
Construction
Most of the map takes place inside a bank building where the terrorists can hole up. The building is surrounded by a street that has been cordoned off by the police. The bank can be entered via the main portal of the building as well as a back entrance. In addition, the building has two levels connected by stairwells and the blasted ceiling in the safe room.

There have been very few changes since Downtown was released. Most of their updates were minor bug fixes.

On February 14, 2014, it was announced that the map would once again become part of an upcoming Operation for the game, having received enough community votes. - Tanuki, the map’s creator, also created the popular Operation Payback map Seaside .
- In two places on the map there are switched on computer screens as Easter Eggs. On their desktop you can see a Steam link, among other things. Also, the taskbar’s Start icon has been replaced with a smiling smiley that says “Fart” (“Fart”). These Easter Egg screens have already been used on some Counter-Strike: Source community maps .
- The clock above the main entrance and the clocks in the building show different times.
