Valorant has been in closed beta for three weeks and got some changes and bugfixes with patch 0.49 yesterday. Especially Sage and Omen are considered in the patch.
The new patch makes some balance changes to the agents, updates the maps, improves the observer mode and brings many other improvements. The Competitive Mode is also mentioned in the patch notes, but we will have to wait a bit for its introduction.

Agents
Omen
- Omen is now directly vulnerable.
- When Omen teleported, it was often unclear when you were just sending him back and when he was vulnerable.
- The radius in which you can hear where Omen teleports has been reduced.
Sage
- The barrier will now only create a block of ice if it is also on solid ground.
- The barrier can no longer be placed on small objects. It must be used either on the ground or on boxes.
- This is to prevent players from boosting themselves off the map or to unintended locations.
Phoenix
- Phoenix will no longer teleport back to a rope when using his Ulti if he dies on one.
- Phoenix can no longer be wounded where he died during his Ulti.
Viper
- Gaps in Viper’s Toxic Screen can now be seen on the minimap.
- Animation cancel for Viper’s Pit has been fixed.
- Fixed a bug where Cypher’s Cyber Cage was selected in a larger area than intended, causing overlapping interaction issues.
Cypher
- Fixed a bug that caused Cypher’s Cyber Cage to be selected in a larger area than intended, resulting in overlapping interaction issues.
Maps
- Several bug fixes to the geometry of Haven, Bind, and Split to prevent exploits and provide better gameplay.
- Added curtains to Double Doors on Haven to prevent players with Sage’s barrier from seeing through a crack.
- Updated materials on Bind and Haven to make surfaces more consistent.
Observer Mode
- Added a ghost cheat for custom games that can be used to fly through the entire map
- You now switch through between players on one team before the camera switches to a player on the other team
Hud & UI
- New visuals for low health and the direction from which you receive damage.
- Your player icon on the minimap is no longer the character’s portrait to better distinguish your position from others.
- Spike icon is now colored to make it more recognizable.
- Teammates’ Ulti availability is now displayed correctly.
- Match search and train buttons are now in the play screen and not in the social panel.
- There is now a “Play Again” button in the end screen.
Quality of Life
- The audio occlusion system has been improved so that sounds sound as far away as they actually are on the map.
- Whoever leaves matchmade games ,will now receive time penalties that get longer if repeated. So you can’t play Matchmade games for a certain amount of time.
- Custom games can now be left permanently without penalty via the “Leave Match” button.
In addition, there are numerous smaller bug fixes. For example, there are no more floating weapons, and the movement during player collisions has been improved. You can no longer equip skins or other items that you don’t own, and connection problems with voice and text chat have been fixed.
All in all, patch 0.49 brings a lot of small changes and fixes and there will surely be more to come. The biggest impact will probably be the changes to Sage’s barrier, which now can’t be abused as much for crazy boosts. We are definitely excited to see how the new changes will affect the game and will keep you posted on all Valorant news and updates. For example, the Valorant anti-cheat program has just been reworked.

What is Valorant?
Valorant initially appears to be a cross between CS:Go and Overwatch . A competitive shooter where two small teams compete against each other.
Your team is either ready to attack or defend, with the attackers placing a “stinger” (essentially a bomb) that the other team must then defuse or preferably prevent you from placing at all.
The attacking team can win by either eliminating the defenders or placing the stinger and then protecting it from defusing until the timer runs out. The defenders can similarly win by destroying the attackers before they have a chance to plant their stinger, or disarming the stinger after it has been planted.
Each team of five can play as both attackers and defenders during a game. Each game has a total of 25 rounds, with the first team to win 13 rounds declared the winner
