Patch 3.10 comes with only two features, but they are quite something! Valorant will change as much as rarely before, especially if you look at the new Ranked mode. But everything in order. We’ve been waiting for the new Agent Chamber since June – the update finally brings it into the game. How will he play? What are his strengths and what lore does he bring with him? Exciting weeks are waiting for us! The second big feature concerns the now available 5-stacks! We had to wait a long time for that, too… But what do we mean by that? Let’s have a closer look at the patch notes!
Chamber is here!
With the update, we also have access to Chamber for the first time. We had to wait far too long for this. The map Easter Eggs and teasers were exciting, but also exhausting in the long run. Of course, the fact that its release was delayed by two weeks only added to our excitement. As is the case with any agent, you can unlock Chamber by completing all five stages of his contract. Or you can simply buy him with Valorant Points. You can play him in any mode and on any map. No Limits. How the new Sentinel will play remains to be seen though.
Groups of 5 in Ranked Mode
Actually, we already knew that groups of 5 would be added soon. We also knew that the teams that would choose to play it would get less RR. But exactly how it would all work out had not yet been announced. That the groups of 5 would just kick the groups of 4 out of the game was not something anyone expected. You heard right: groups of 4 in Valorant Ranked mode are history. Riot Games is doing this to cleanse the community of toxic players.
We expect this change to significantly enhance the individual player’s experience. We also expect it to reduce toxic behavior.
But what should we expect from this new feature now? We’ll show you the details!
If everyone in your party is on Diamond 2 and below:
- You can expect a longer queue time, as we will only pair yourTeam with other groups of 5 that have a similar MMR.
- Ranking gains and losses will be lower if you play in a group of 5 outside of the current rank restrictions. Adjusting your RW depends on the rank imbalance in the group.
If one or more group members are on Diamond 3 or higher:
- Your expected queue times may vary greatly and could increase dramatically, as you will now definitely have to wait for another group of 5 with a similar MMR.
- There will be at least a 50% RW reduction applied to the entire group of 5, including ranked members. The reduction can go up to 90% if the skill imbalance becomes larger.
If one or more group members are on Radiant:
- Similar to the Diamond 3 example, the queue time is unlimited and can be tremendously long, as you may only compete against other groups of 5 with the same MMR.
- There will be at least a 75% RW reduction applied to the entire5-group, including ranked members. If you match with players below the Radiant rank, the RW reduction is automatically increased to 90%.
Are the groups of 5 even worth it?
Since you’ll be skimming RR significantly less in the long run, we can’t really recommend the groups of 5 if you want to move up quickly. Playing with a full team doesn’t give you an incredible advantage because you’ll end up playing against a full team. It lends itself to this, of course, if you want to play with your friends, but it doesn’t help your rank much. Riot Games probably wanted to give casual players a bit of a hand up and give them the perfect opportunity to mix up Valorant with some buddies.
What are Patchnotes?
Patchnotes are specially designed to appear only in the appropriate places.
What is Valorant?
Valorant initially appears to be a cross between CS:Go and Overwatch . A competitive shooter where two small teams compete against each other.
Your team is either ready to attack or defend, with the attackers placing a “stinger” (essentially a bomb) that the other team must then defuse or preferably prevent you from placing at all.
The attacking team can win by either eliminating the defenders or placing the stinger and then protecting it from defusing until the timer runs out. The defenders can similarly win by destroying the attackers before they have a chance to plant their stinger, or disarming the stinger after it has been planted.
Each team of five can play as both attackers and defenders during a game. Each game has a total of 25 rounds, with the first team to win 13 rounds declared the winner
