Almost two weeks after the release of Valorant Act III, the new Valorant Patch 1.11 was scheduled, including the new Agent Skye. However, the patch has now been withdrawn for the time being due to technical problems.
Valorant’s latest patch is here! Well, at least partially. With the release of patch 1.11, Riot planned some changes to existing agents as well as the introduction of the new agent Skye. However, the patch was cancelled shortly after release due to numerous bugs. So let’s deal with the technical disaster first, before we look at the actual patch notes later.
What looks rather funny at first glance is a “technical nightmare” for Riot. After numerous bugs and problems, Riot has now withdrawn the Valorant patch in North America, South America and Brazil, while all other regions have been postponed. Riot is now working flat out to resolve the issue and plans to have the patch live by October 31.
What’s new in patch 1.11?
Numerous bugs! Okay well, all kidding aside. Of course, apart from the involuntary changes, there is a lot of new content, including the new agent Skye! So now let’s take a closer look at the patch notes for patch 1.11.
Skye
Skye will be the newest member of Valorant’s agent pool. We’ve already covered her abilities in advance, but here’s a quick recap:
At first glance, she looks like a very flexible agent, but her main focus is on supporting her teammates. In terms of play style, she is therefore most reminiscent of Sage. Since the latter has now been generated in the past patches, Skye could be the new No. 1 in the supporter sky.
Agent Updates
“We have observed that attacking teams often find it very difficult to attack entrenched defenders. Although many factors can favor this trend (run speed, weapon tuning, map design agent balance) there are some spot character changes that will give attackers more opportunities to attack entrenched defenders. You can find the list below.”
Breach
- Total time blended grenade increased from 1.75 >>> 2
Cypher
- Trap Wire: If Cypher dies, the item is deactivated and revealed.
- Spy Camera: If Cypher dies, the item is deactivated and revealed.
Killjoy
- Alarm Bot and Turret are now disabled when she moves more than 40m away from them. If she gets closer again, they are reactivated.
Turret
- Cooldown reduced from 20 seconds >>> 10 seconds after pickup.
Alarm Bot
- Detection range of the alarm bot reduced from 9 m >>> 7 m.
- Cooldown after pickup reduced from 20 seconds >>> 7 seconds.
Nano Swarm
- Detection range of the nanoswarm reduced from 5 m >>> 3.5 m.
- Damage increased from 40/s >>> 45/s.
- Damage is dealt more evenly and quickly in the nanoswarm: Instead of 10 every 0.25 seconds
Ranked Updated
- Icebox is available in the rated mode map rotation.
- Icebox will be available in official e-sports events (such as First Strike) after playing in the rated queue for four weeks.
- Shorter unrated queue times for the highest ranked players.
- We continue to work on shortening queue times for elite players in unrated mode. We also continue to work on shortening the long queue times for all primary modes.
- Added gamepod location to loading screen for all modes.
- Adjusted combat score to include supports that do not result in damage.
Similar to Skye, Icebox will take some time to find its way into the Esports scene – until November 29th to be exact. Until then, Riot will do its best to make the map as balanced as possible.
Change to the currency system
- Attackers who lose but survive the whole round without placing the spike will receive less credits (1,000)
- Defenders who lose but survive the whole round after the spike is detonated will also receive fewer credits (1,000).
- Dying from the spike no longer counts as a death in KDA statistics.
- Additional currency information has been added as a quick info and can be read by hovering over the exclamation point next to “Min. next round” in the store.
“These changes are intended to make decision making more diverse: Think about whether to keep your armor or end the round. Also, teams that win rounds can now more easily sabotage the economy of opponents who give up expensive weapons in round defeats.”
Quality of Life changes
- Left-handed views are now available. Players can now change the first-person view to “left-handed view” through the settings.
Also, all other players can now watch in left-handed mode. - You can now send friends a direct message by clicking on their name instead of having to write the name first.
- Players who are AFK or out for more than 5 minutes are now shown as “Absent” in the Social window.
- Team colors now remain unchanged for an entire game for observers, instead of always showing attackers in red and defenders in green.
In addition, there are – hard to believe but true – various bug fixes. With the changes to the agents, Riot is of course again trying to influence the meta somewhat. Grey ducklings like Breach are supposed to become more popular, while Cypher slightly loses his place in the sun. We can definitely be curious how patch 1.11 and especially Skye will change the meta. If it then goes online at some point….

What is Valorant?
Valorant initially appears to be a cross between CS:Go and Overwatch . A competitive shooter where two small teams compete against each other.
Your team is either ready to attack or defend, with the attackers placing a “stinger” (essentially a bomb) that the other team must then defuse or preferably prevent you from placing at all.
The attacking team can win by either eliminating the defenders or placing the stinger and then protecting it from defusing until the timer runs out. The defenders can similarly win by destroying the attackers before they have a chance to plant their stinger, or disarming the stinger after it has been planted.
Each team of five can play as both attackers and defenders during a game. Each game has a total of 25 rounds, with the first team to win 13 rounds declared the winner
